Re: More beloved Laker: Shaq or Kobe?
When they were in the midst of the 3-peat..Shaq. Once the trade was gonna go down though most Lakers knew (or at least should've known) that the future was with Kobe.
After all he's done since then it's definitely Kobe now though Lakers fans have warmed back up to Shaq.

I've always been more of a Shaq guy, but this is Kobe.

I'd say it's pretty much equal. Kobe gets more respect from Laker fans because he's a life-long Laker and won more titles. At their respective heights, I actually think Shaq was slightly more loved.

I'm more of a Shaq guy but I give Kobe his props...

Kobe.
Can't wait for non-Laker fans to come in here and tell Laker fans they're wrong.

Shaq was more loved , but the fans are fiercely devoted to Kobe.
It's almost scary.

Shaq is an all-time legend, but you start comparing him to the GOAT he's gotta have his shortcomings picked apart like anyone else in that discussion.
He didn't say he was the GOAT. He said his peak was as dominant as MJ's. This is a universal fact, and despite Shaq's shortcomings defensively, you would be hard-pressed to convince true basketball enthusiasts that Shaq didn't have an impact AT ALL on the defensive end. Along with Kobe's elite perimeter defense, and players like Rick Fox and Robert Horry's excellent help defense, Shaq helped anchor the best defense in the NBA in 2000, his MVP year. He was the most dominant offensive force in the league, playing a pivotal role on the league's best defensive team.
Sound like someone familiar in his peak?
The playoff sweeps and free-throw shooting are all true, but show me an NBA legend and I'll show you his flaws. No one is perfect. And MJ is as close to having a perfect resume as we'll probably ever see.

Great college starter
Re: More beloved Laker: Shaq or Kobe?
Kobe, obviously.
Shaq got a ton of love at his jersey retirement ceremony though, it's nice to know he hasn't been forgotten. When you think of Shaq, you'll always think of him as a Laker first and foremost.

Doesn't matter, Shaq was a much better player.

I know people here don't like players they didn't see play, but Bill Russell's resume shits on every single player to ever play the game.

Well when I say resume, I also include statistical metrics.
