Jerry Sloan deserves this. AFter the stockton and malone days, Utah just wasnt very good and then Sloan finally gets them on the high road again and makes them a playoff team. All his hard work finally paid off and did what a real coach does.

True however COY is for THIS YEAR not for a past history of good work. While Sloan deserves something this ain't it.

The only other team that has made this much of a jump are the toronto raptors. I think that it has more to do with their GM and players than their coach though. Raptor fans have wanted sam mitchell dead ever since he went to toronto. Even now some fans are still iffy about whether or not they like him.
.

Yes coach of the YEAR not the first 3/4 of the year.

People credit BC and to some extent they are correct BUT even knowing the pieces that were in place preseason power rankings had teh team between 21 and 18th overall. Despite there share of injuries they have had massive improvement, gotta be some coaching.

The difference is, Jerry Sloan has proven to be a winner. Year after year. He's had what, 1-2 losing seasons? Not too sure about that fact, but I know his record is damn impressive.

Sam on the other hand, has a record of futility. He was exposed as a horrible coach last season, and was on the brink of getting canned. Now his team is finally playing well, thanks to a major offseason trade that upgraded the team in the one area they needed major upgrading, and he gets a bunch of the credit? Hell no. You don't become THAT much better of a coach in that short of a timespan.

Hell, just listen to an interview of his. He spews nonsense. I can't stand the guy. He's not all that smart, he's not hardnosed, he just doesn't have the qualities of a great coach.
