I think they have the best offensive bench in the NBA. MarShon, Watson, Blatche, Tele and now Childress are terrific bench players. Defensively the bench is weak though.

Childress can be a decent man to man defender.
Evans can give a solid minutes off the bench guarding and getting into the heads of the other.
Definitely the bench can score.

They have Reggie Evans too IIRC. Very good defender and rebounder. Blatche is hopefully stuck as a benchwarmer because he's pretty god awful.

Childress is an absolute scrub. He was a scrub on Olympiacos and he was a scrub on the Suns.

Very strange move by the Nets.

Would probably be one of the best players in the Euroleague.

But in the NBA? I agree, he is a scrub. I'm not crazy about this move.

He sucked, that's what happened. He sucks so bad even the great Steve Nash couldn't help him (even though every other player who played with Nash improved).

Would definitely be the WORST player on Olympiacos.

Childress is absolute trash, almost as much as you are.

He was never good. Cool story is right. I used to live in Atlanta and watched him play. The Hawks caught a break when he signed with Greece.

He can't score outside 5 feet, can't create off the dribble and doesn't play D. He is too slow and weak to guard anyone.

He is constantly leaking out early to cherry pick easy fast break points, leaving the other 4 guys to play D. He also constantly crashes the offensive glass instead of getting back on D.

He sucks.

The last time I paid attention to Josh Childress, he was leading Stanford to a near undefeated season. I like to think of him as a utility player. He's not really good at one thing, but he has slight talent here and there. He can score, but he's not really that good at it. He can defend, but nothing more than above average. He can rebound some, but not really that amazing. He's athletic, but not a top NBA athlete. Really, he's just a body. I really hope for us he's just the kind of guy that can possibly change the pace for us every other game. Maybe he'll get some dunks on the break playing with Deron, play some key defense in critical possessions, and that's really all we can expect at the price we're paying him. If he can move well off the ball and get some easy layups off of screens and cuts, then it'd be a success.

Marshon is still the first swingman off the bench. CJ's the first guard off the bench (who can also play with Deron in a two PG line up--Deron most likely would assume off guard duties). Bogans and Childress would be fighting for back up SF minutes, which will be spotty given that Gerald, Joe, and Marshon will be heading up a lot of it, especially in the playoffs.

He's solid insurance if we suffer injuries though.
