Yeah and people though Hezonja and Exum were good picks. We'll see about those too.

Seriously, before you heard the Knicks were selecting him had you ever seen a Pro A game and do you know what type of league it is? I sure have and I have friends who have played in that league.

When you draft a PG who's strengths are length and athleticism you're going to have a bad time

That people that Hezonja and Exum were supposed to be good but they suck. Hezonja was supposedly athletic and a great shooter and how's he looked? Exum is nothing but maybe a solid defender one day

He's not even athletic. He's just a solid athlete.

Because almost every year there is one international player who gets overhyped and drafted before he should. Whether it's Darko or Skitishvili back in the day or Exum or Hezonja. In addition, international basketball is played differently, and that's not a bad thing but it's easier to compare players playing on a similar level than compare a buncha AAU kids who play NCAA to Euro guys who play a very different game

I still remember the hype about Mudiay and he's been craptastic thus far. Meh. Time will tell on this guy.

it's not really obvious to me at all.

in the NCAA they can play much faster, have lots of isos and 18 year olds are playing tons of minutes. Way less ball movement.

In general in europe, the pace is slower, ball movement is way better and it's much better fundamentally. There is no AAU and kids actually learn how to move without the ball. Also, young players play way fewer minutes than in the NCAA. It is not uncommon for a Euro stud kid to play 12-15 min a game. Although the athleticism is not as good and the pace can be slower, the game can be physical and you have 18 year olds playing against grown men. So no to me, its not very similar.

He's really a combo guard and maybe better off the ball. He is not a passer and not a scorer. He's not really great at anything
Dude is not even 19 years old, what do you expect from a young guy like that? He is not LeBron yes, we had people here who said Westbrook was going to be the biggest bust of the draft too. Being a solid athlete is not a disadvantage, just because he is not a super athlete it does not mean he is not going to be able to keep up.

You might be right about him, but I don't see how one can rule out a player so early in his career.
