Prime Shaq would drop 40 along with the 20 boards on these undersized Rockets.

Dallas might prove to be a serious contender...even if somehow Damp turns out to be less than prime-shaq-esque.

Isn't it a contract or extension year for Dampier? He always plays infinitely better those years. Hopefully y'all make the most of it before he signs for more money.

Prime.... you never cease to overstate things do you?

Damp playing like prime Shaq? Uhh.... no.

and have you simply not watched the Mavs ever? Dirk has been one of the top 4th quarter scorers in the NBA for years now.

They are playing good basketball right now but adding Marion and having a healthier Howard, and beating a Pauerless Lakers doesn't make them the best in the west without a doubt..

While I agree its WAY too early to say they are the best without a doubt, you must at least give that Dallas was missing Howard in the game against LA so its not really fair to give that game an asterisk b/c of Pau being out.

Dallas is playing like a darkhorse team that no one seems to notice at this time. but its still early and that team on paper looks as dangerous as anyone. After the All-star game is hosted in their town (Cowboys Stadium not really in their town), they will get more recognition depending on their record at that time

The only game I have watched of nalas was VS the lakers and the lakes lost, so naturally my view atm is skewed.

Whats the D look like?

"Dark horse", "team no one wants to play" or "dangerous come playoff time" teams are often referred to as such because they cant be referred to as "Contenders".

So, are they playing top shelf D or are they a step slow?

Here's to hoping the Mavs catch a fast losing streak so the Nets' pick looks good.

they have been playing very well on the defensive end.

They won 3 games in a row shooting sub 42% which matches the same numbers of wins they had ALL of last year when dipping that low.

Four games into the year, we celebrated Dallas’ ability to win games while shooting 42-percent-or-poorer. The Mavs won three straight that way – and last year, Dallas was 3-20 all year in that circumstance.

Right now, Dallas doesn’t have to worry much about shooting under 42 percent.

Over the last three games, Dallas is shooting 54.5 percent (on 138-of-253) and is averaging 119 points per game. The Mavs have won their last two games by an average of 23.5 points and have a point-differential matched in the entire NBA only by Boston.

Right now, if the Mavs play well at both ends – and they are starting to do that – the Mavs blow you out.

Prime Shaq averaged 10 & 11?

10/31 @Lac 12 pts/10 rebounds
11/3 Uth 4/12
11/4 @Nor 16/14
11/7 Tor 5/6
11/10 Hou 14/20

Yeah - he's a monster!

Dallas will be what they've been for the many years now. A pretty good team, overestimated by many, who sometime early in the playoffs gives me this to laugh at:

and finally this...

That is a good barometer of the D. Good to hear.

I have hoped for a year or so that Dirk and KB get to play eachother in the post season. They never have yet... sort of amazing in a way.

Damp is at the same level of a soon to be 38 year old shaq.
