Any video project would have a ton of preproduction to think all this stuff out ahead of time. It's not a reality show, where they are going to shoot a month of footage. They want to get in and get their all the "scenes" shot. Also with regards to his family, it's not easy to be unselfconscious on camera, so it's not unusual they would be prompted.
It's weird they didn't edit out the director's voice. I wonder if they can't edit the footage or that would be considered illegal coordination with outside groups.
One of my favorite 'scripted' things in politics was a recent US Senator would drive to his campaign stops in a red pickup truck. Then he would drive down the road to another parking lot and get in his actual car, an expensive German sportscar and drive home in that.
