Exclamation Braylon Edwards TRADED to the NY Jets

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/10/07/b...wards-to-jets/

Quote:
In a blockbuster trade, the Cleveland Browns have traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets, signaling that the Browns are in serious rebuilding mode, that the Jets are serious about winning right now.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports later reported that the Jets sent two draft picks, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey and linebacker Jason Trusnik to Cleveland.

Sounds like they received a good deal for him too.

I have Cotchery in a couple leagues. ****.

what?! wow... great move by Jets. Browns are just lost. your quarterback situation sucks. you kinda figured out Anderson is better but trade away your best receiver.

I guess this means the Jets are serious about winning huh? I wonder if they gave up a first......either way it kinda sucks that this deal is happening now when it should have went down months ago. Blame Dallas for that though, if they hadn't upped the value of a premier receiver by what they gave the Lions it would have.

If Edwards learns the playbook quickly this could end up working out for the best for the Jets though. They're currently in an easy part of their schedule (next 4 games they play the Fins twice, the Raiders, and the Bills and then they have a bye), so it seems like the perfect time to acclimate a potential star.

Even the Browns are trying to keep LeBron in Cleveland?

Picks are believed to be a 3rd and a 5th. There wasn't any way they'd give up a 1st along with Chansi Stuckey. But wow the Jets should have a very good offense: Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery, Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Dustin Keller. If Sanchize continues to be solid they've got no less than an above average offense to go along with maybe the best defense in the league.

Could LeBron and Braylon meet again in NY?

Jets might end up getting screwed hardcore. Around the league, reports have said that there might just be some solid evidence to the 49ers claims of the Jets tampering with Crabtree. If true, they could very well end up losing a crapload of draft picks next year as that violation would be regarded as more serious than any other tampering incident.

It is funny though if you think about it. 49ers call out Jets for tampering. All of a sudden, not too long after that, Crabtree flies to San Francisco and wants to make a deal and sign, basically caving in. As soon as Crabtree signed, the Jets almost immediately traded for Edwards. LOL.

If enough evidence is found, especially Deion spilling the beans, Jets could be hurting come Draft day next year, they're already out a 3rd and 5th rounder at this point in the Edwards trade.

This is what Florio had to say earlier today.

Quote:

Meanwhile, there's some speculation in league circles that Deion Sanders might have pushed Crabtree and agent Eugene Parker toward getting something done with the 49ers in the hopes that it will insulate Deion from having to choose whether to cooperate with the investigation or risk a potentially negative impact to his employment with NFL Network.

In the end, however, it might not matter. If the folks investigating the tampering case decide to aggressively pursue Deion in the hopes of finding out what he knew when he said that there were two teams willing to pay Crabtree $40 million, Crabtree's contract with the 49ers is irrelevant to that inquiry.

I thought that this was hilarious.

Quote:
Now that the Michael Crabtree story has finally reached the "Oh My God I Think I Saw Him Catch A Pass!" stage, don't be afraid to thank Braylon Edwards. If you have even one conspiratorial bone in your body, you know the two are intertwined.

Edwards is the Cleveland Browns wide receiver who got into a fight with one of LeBron James' friends and was exiled from Ohio to New York. Edwards is talented but with a high maintenance label, and LeBron is the third rail of Cleveland politics.

Thus, when the Jets showed interest in Edwards, it meant whatever interest they might have had in Crabtree dimmed/evaporated/vanished entirely. And when that might have happened (tampering charges being the nebulous things they are), Crabtree's leverage did too. If, that is, you believe that the Jets were the only players in the Crabtree sweepstakes, which may or may not be so.

Either way, the coincidental nature of the events leads one to the obvious conclusion that one led to the other. Without more definitive times lines provided by people who don't do time lines for fear that we might understand the flow of events, we'll never know for sure, but the timing of Edwards' orginal outburst dovetails nicely with with the Eugene Parker-Paraag Marathe meeting that turned into the Parker-Jed York meeting that turned into the silly skullduggery that NFL people always seem to think is a necessary part of the job.

Now that the Crabtree deal is done, we'll see soon enough how the money fell, and who blinked, and to what extent. And then we can argue about it over beers or other medicinal elixirs.

In the meantime, the first toast goes to Braylon Edwards, whose close personal relationship to LeBron James' entourage may have set the whole think in motion.

Oh, and the second toast goes to wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, who got traded from the Jets to the Browns. The poor guy gave his competitive life so that others might live.

not what you need on a struggling team, good move by the Browns.

MOHAMED MASSAQUOI was their best receiver anyway.
