easy choice here: Hall of Famer Dino Meneghin Only average offensively, not an exceptional defender. What made him so good was his competitiveness: he never backed down, he never accepted defeat. Opponents were SCARED to face him

again...BEST PLAYER EVER: Nikos Galis, guard. But he learnt his ball in the USA, I personally don't consider him a truly greek player. Amongst indigens, Theo Papaloukas, the current point guard of CSKA Moscow and National Team is a worthy candidate

Lithuania deserves a place on its own; a healthy Sabonis would have been the best center, or outright the best player ever, Mr. Michael Jordan included

Old Yugoslavia - Kresimir Cosic (hall of fame), Drazen Petrovic(nets), Toni Kukoc(bulls), Zarko Paspalj(spurs), Dino Rada(celtics), Vlade Divac (legend)

...and Kicanovic, and Dalipagic, and Bodiroga...
but Drazen Petrovic is a notch above anyone else

Germany:

Det Schrempf - born in Leverkusen, played ball there until he was 15, then moved to Washington, played hs ball and at U of Washington.

Mike Jackel - Of Canadian origin, he was leaps and bounds better than any other wing in the german bundesliga. Still their all time scoring leader.

Chris Welp - Went to college together with Schrempf and spent some uneventful years in the NBA. Scored the deciding basket in the 1993 european championship final vs Russia.

Norbert Thimm - Legendary center of the 70ies. A legit 7 footer he played for the Leverkusen bundesliga team and later moved on to play for Real Madrid. He apparently had offers from NBA teams as well but never made this step.

Dirk Nowitzki - nothing to say here most people dont know anyways.

Greece- I think it's a tossup between C/PF's Sofokils Schortsanitis and Theodoris Popoloukas. Popoloukas was the only non-NBA player to make the woirlds allstar team. I think in a few shot years, Schortsanitis will be better because he has a better body and is younger and has a huge upside. Keep an eye out for Schortsanitis in the future.

Brazil- Many people would say Nene, but I'd say Leandro Barbosa. Nene's got a lot of potential, but is hurt way to often to develop it. Barbosa was a major steal in the draft and is a key part of the Suns.


Argentina- Obviously, Manu Ginobili is the best right now, and probably will be for a long time. Keep an eye on Andres Nocioni though. Last year, at times, he was the Bulls' best player. He's still young and developing, and I wouldn't be suprised if he passes Manu later on in his career!

I know Parker is an all-star and has 2 rings (3 soon ), but in my opinion, Boris Diaw is the best french baller

Argentina : that one is easy (although Nocioni was terrific against Miami during last playoffs)

Spain : Gasol, but Calderon was very good last year as arookie for Toronto, and Spain won the World championship game without Pau

Canada and Germany : no comment
