Hiroshima and Nagasaki are terrible examples, and they absolutely pale in comparison to the horrific atrocities committed by the Japanese during World War II. Bringing up those attacks as some sort of black mark on the USA is simple uneducated gibberish. Even the Nazis were taken aback by the level of inhumanity demonstrated by the Japanese lunatics, who were raping, torturing, and massacring the Chinese civilian population.

Iraq is a much better example. No excuse for that shit - the US gov't is involved with some extremely deplorable activity in the 21st century. But it's not because they are (mostly) white, it's because they are by far the most powerful military and they have the means to do what they want. Power corrupts. That's it.

But don't talk about the nuclear weapons unless you have actually done at least some basic reading about the Japanese hostilities of that era.

It's not a fair comparison at all, and you need to study the actual context of that Japanese military. They were not going to surrender under any circumstances. "One hundred million dying for the cause" was the slogan of their people at the time, and they took it at face value.

They really were very unique among modern industrial powers - and there are many historical reasons for this. It's not some inherent cruelty in the Japanese DNA, it's a complex set of cultural factors which drove them to be what they were.

In a vacuum, yes the dropping of the atomic bombs was deplorable. But the likely alternative was not only countless more military deaths, but the extermination of all of the Japanese people via land invasion, because they were not prepared to offer surrender for any reason.

And if you don't believe any of that, what, at least, do you make of the fact that the Japanese refused to surrender after Hiroshima? We showed them that we could decimate an entire city with a single bomb, and they refused to give in. Hence the second attack at Nagasaki. Do you place any of the blame for the deaths at Nagasaki on Hirohito for refusing to surrender after Hiroshima?
