Default Is it worth going from 2K7 -> 2K8?

I just ask because IGN rated it worse then 2K7, so I was just wondering, is it actually good enough to warrant another $60 purchase? The other option is to just change the rosters in 2k7 and wait till 2K9 comes out. Any thoughts?

I went from 2k7 to nba live 08 and don't regret it at all. Although I liked the shooting mechanics in 2k, nba live 08 just seems so much more realistic to me.

The only difference I see is that it is slower then 2k8, but slower ina realistic sense. Also, at first you miss alot of lay ups, you have to get used to the shooting. Just the graphics and overall gameplay is really nice, once you play 2k8 constantly, it will be so much better then 2k7. I played 2k8 for 4 hours, then played 2k7 and was disgusted at how horrible it was compared to 2k8.

So is NBA live now >> NBA 2k again?? or is that just the opinion of one person. I personally haven't played an NBA Live game since 05 and haven't looked back but have yet to play 2k8 or live 08.

NBA live 08 is ****ing terrible
i dunno why some people like it so much, the game is goddamn awfull

2k8 is by far the best basketball videogame EVER created
you play it for even 30 minutes, then play 2k7 , you won't even be able to finish the first quarter of your 2k7 game because it is that much worse than 2k8

Agreed...

I own both 2K7 & 2K8 and without going into a rediculous amount of detail over the contrast of the two, it is indeed almost a night and day difference. 2K8 is definitley worth the coin especially when you consider that 2K9 won't be released for another 10 months or so....

And anyone willing to bid Live over 2K just far perfers an un-realistic dunk fest over simulation style basketball...

I shall say no more...

2k is better than LIVE and I am a longtime LIVE fan but 2k takes the cake.

Also yeah it is worth it to switch.

Get 2k8, but make sure you go to Xbox Live and get the patch they made for it. It makes the game much more enjoyable.

2K8 is a much better game than 2k7 or NBA Live 08. You have to get used to missing alot of contested close shots and layups. Also if you are playing against a good defender he will make you go in a direction you dont neccessarily want to go. At first it feels like you are losing control but once you get used to it you are fine.

Owning 2k8 as I do, and after having played it for awhile now...I would say it isn't all that spectacular. In fact, I don't actually like the gameplay a whole ton. I'd give it a 6.5-7/10 on gameplay. And the importing the draft class thing is kind of stupid when you import the class from College Hoops 2k8. No matter what you make a players potential in College Hoops, NBA 2k8 seems to randomly select their potential when you import the class. Case in point, I imported the 2008 class with Mike Beasley, being rated 99 overall with 99 potential in the College Hoops, but having F+ potential when imported to NBA 2k8 Association mode. If you want a 2k8 game, go with College Hoops 2k8, it is quite fun and the Legacy mode where you start off at a crappy college is also fun and you can play at it for a good long while.
I have to get out and rent NBA Live 08 and see how it is comparatively.
