whoever put together this Australian team & the Coaches should all be FIRED!!!
It's like watching a junior team play basketball, sloppy turnovers, & basically sh!t scared to do anything.
To his credit Bogut finally came to the party and played basketball, his first 2 games sucked!
Apart from CJ Bruton there is no-body else on the team who can put the ball on the floor with confidence, our back-up point guard is a tweener who couldn't even guard a lamp post, our power forward in Sam Mackinnon to his credit is playing ok but is terribly undersized at 6'6 and as your saw in the Greek lose couldn't hit water off a pier from the free throw line!
Australia has assembled what could possibly be the worst team I have seen in years, there are no veterans (don't count Smith or McKinnon as they guys are tweeners), 1 NBA player & and a bunch over-rated youngsters.
There are plenty of servicable Australian professionals playing in the NBL who should of be included due to their experience, bigger size and better grasp & concept of basketball!
there is no logic to this australian team! why aren't serviceable verteran players like Ben Melmeth, Ben Pepper, Martin Cattalini, Peter Crawford, James Harvey, hell they could of brought in Brett Maher and John Rillie!
The dudes a monster should be playing Number 8 on a rugby team. Imagine him running off the back of a scrum, McCaw or Collins wouldn't even tackle him.
I wanted to see him post up some more and squash somebody.
Another win for Greece it is then the top spot will be decided from the game between Greece and Turkey.
Brazil almost got away with the win after trailing by 20 points(46-26) but we managed to hold on for the win.
BTW did anyone see the elbow Varejao threw at Zisis? What a lame play he should be punished for that kind of foul
terrible blow to Greece. Nikos Zisis is out of the WC with a double cheekbone fracture. Greece loses on of their most experienced guards and one of their best shooters.
The game between Turkey and Greece just finished. Greece won once again thanks to great defense which led to many turnovers and despite the 30 points by Erdogan who had a great game. The best game for Schortsianitis during his time with the national team with 14 points in 10 minutes, he was one of the 5 greek players in double digits. The only turkish player to score more than 10 was Erdogan

some people expressed interest in brazil's alex garcia. he's not draft eligible but already has some nba experience. he played for the new orleans hornets and the san antonio spurs for small periods and suffered injuries while in both teams, which ruined his chances to stick around.
i honestly don't remember about him in san antonio, but in new orleans they tried to play him as a point guard. i doubt that would ever work. alex is a very quick, very athletic shooting guard with nice shooting range. he's also a great dunker. however, he lacks the size to play sg in the nba, so i highly doubt he'll have a career in the league. however, i think his game is just perfect for european ball. it's weird he's still not playing there.
among those brazilian players, i believe the only ones with a legit shot in the nba are tiago splitter (who'll likely be a lottery pick in the next draft - and he deserves it) and maybe marcelo huertas, a smart, quick, skilled point guard who's playing well in his spanish team.
