Re: What's the GOAT zombie movie?
Im a horror fiend of sorts.
I'd have to go with 28 Days Later as a movie overall. It's a great film that'll stand on its own in general.
But my favorite film would have to be 'Dawn of the Dead' remake. I generally hate remakes, specially when they're horror film remakes. But this remake was perhaps better than the original, at least from a replay/entertainment value. It didn't have the same 'message' as the original. But who cares, it was more entertaining to me. I like how it was shot, I love the opening, entertaining film all around.
Original REC (from Spain) was great, just not sure where I'd rank it.

Re: What's the GOAT zombie movie?
I suppose the GOAT is the one that brought the zombie subculture to the mainstream and essentially started it all, Night of the Living Dead.
My personal favorite is Shaun of the Dead

5. Zombieland
4. Army of Darkness
3. Dawn of the Dead (1978)
2. Shaun of the Dead
1. Night of the Living Dead
If Army of Darkness doesn't count, then Planet Terror would be next

REC was some good sh1t. 28 Days Later is probably my personal GOAT zombie movie. The Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty sick too (haven't seen the OG one)
Anyone play The Last of Us? Sick game.

Dawn of the Dead (2004). I don't like fast zombies, but this movie is the exception. I have to agree with what andgar923 said above. I own both the original and remake. The remake has much higher rewatchability.

Talking about this film made me get it earlier today, may watch sometime this week.
TONS of replay value, which is something of a rarity for most horror films. Once you know the setups (scares) they lose replay value because the suspense/buildup is gone. This one still manages to keep you 'entertained' even after multiple viewings.
