Can someone tell me why did we draft wright and ilic... there were better playes there... like in first round granger, warrich, head... i know the nets have problem around the basket dont have many good pf or c... well ok krstic is great... well ilic i saw him playing in NLB league and he wasnt so great to me... we could draft gomes or blatche...
-Warrick was a tweener that wouldn't have worked out at the Power Foward position for the most part.
-Gerald Green was a High Schooler and we wanted someone who was ready
-Danny Granger had an injured past
-Joey Graham-I don't know
I'm glad we took Wright though, he has become just as good of a player if not better than any of those guys. And Ilic? He was a mid second round pick, there's only 1 guy picked after him that any of us would recognize, Ryan Gomes, who would you rather us have taken?
no one thought Granger would have been that good.
the Nets wanted a big man, but after they were gone, they saw Wright's profile as a sweet stroking shooter from Texas A&M and they felt he could have helped a little bit.
People were calling him the biggest steal of the draft actually. All the analysts knew he was that good. It was inexcusable that we passed him up. As for Ilic, you really never know with 2nd rounders, sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don't. You could find an all star there or someone who never ends up seeing the court at all
This year has got to be Wrights coming out party. He has shown us good flashes at times. He has the potential. I think it's more about confidence with him. He has shown he is a decent shooter. He has also shown he can D-up. That's huge. He should pattern his game to be like a Bruce Bowen (dirty or not). That's what I think he can achieve with a little confidence. Every team needs a bruce bowen type.
the spurs are my second-favorite team behind the nets (not that it's even close), but even if i was a hardcore spurs fan i would still throw that b!tch out of the league yesterday if it was in my power.
The nets needed a big man when they drafted wright but instead they looked at the best talent available and drafted him... He showed signs last season though he was inconsistent. He's an average defender. He can be a james posey if he wants to, can defend, shoot 3's, slash, hustle... He should come out next season and be his break out year
