A valid excuse for the NBA to get a free pass fudging list info? Or should this logic be fairly applied to all sports and all fans be informed "from now on player measurements in all sports are to include the clothing/equipment they play in".

    IE all fans should know:

American Football and Hockey height/weights to include helmets/pads and cleats/skates

right? After all, is that not more relevant to fans than knowing just the raw height and weight of the athletes, being that they always play in the equipment? Why bother wanting to know how they stack up as physical athletes to compare to other athletes in the real world? Wayne Gretzky 6 foot 185lbs without his hockey gear on? WHO CARES dude is LEGIT 6-4 200 with it on lets just refer to him as 6-4 200 from here on out!

And how does a 38 year old Tim Duncan still rank among the best players in the league? And a 36 year old Kobe, and after two major operations, scoring 25.4 ppg?

Yep...a much better taller, longer, bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic NBA today.
What does that have to do with anything? Karl Malone was averaging 20 at 39 years old, and winning MVPs at 35 years old. Doesn't mean the league was weak back then.

Kareem was averaging 23 as a 38 year old too btw.

Wilt was shooting like 70% in his last season while grabbing 20 rebounds, was the league weak in the 1970s?

Players in the current generation have better technology/knowledge/nutrition/etc to better condition their bodies than players of previous generations. That's all there is to it. Steve Nash leading the league in assists as a 37 years old tells us how great Steve was, not how weak the league was.

Physically wise, the current generation is just better due to better technology, better training methods/techniques, etc. Bob Cousy was smoking cigs back when he played, nobody's doing that shit now.

    You're correct for Kobe.

But I've posted Oscar's many times before, have you not seen this? He's the same height as Kobe. (Or was at one time).

Nobody was doing this shit on the Celtics in the playoffs back when Cousy was winning titles:

You're comparing JR Smith....... to Bob Cousy

the moment players get in the NBA he's got trainers with 20+ years of experience giving you advice on conditioning/diet/etc in today's NBA

the medical technology is so advanced now that it's possible to recover from what would be career ending back then.

tell me, what does the 60s have?

There's a reason you never rarely saw players playing past the age of 36 back in the 60s compared to now.

Not really. Other leagues measure barefoot don't they? I thought the NBA used to as well. These days you see large variations in height between different camps/tournaments guys play in. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day beyond people should know their heights aren't accurate.

A lot of the guards listed at 6" are more like 5"10 as well.

Talking about him... I know he's NOT 6'6" for sure. Looks the same size as Brian Shaw who is about 6'3.5".

The NBA used to measure barefoot up until the 1980s more or less I think. the Euroleague mesures it's players barefeet and in meters (more accurate), for example.

It's bad enough that the measuring methods have changed throughout the years, but it is downright ridiculous when a 6-7 3/4 Kevin Love is listed at 6-10. Same with Ben Wallace, who was listed at 6-9, but even he admitted he was 6-7.

And it is almost laughable too, to watch games where one "6-10" player towers over another "6-11" player.

Everyone goes to work in shoes but only in the NBA do they list players height in shoes. Makes no sense at all.

Josh Smith is 6'7" but listed at 6'9".

The point is that players today aren't really taller than players back then.

I could care less about anyone's height. Gimme "standing reach" all day.

Wilt Chamberlain was 6'11 1/2 without shoes anyway

2 inches taller than 'undersized' Dwight Howard
