Default Why have Boston been mediocre offensively in the Kyrie era?

Both seasons Celtics have been below average to mediocre in terms of offensive efficiency - 18th last year and 23rd this year

They had an all-time great offense with the 5í9 midget, why did Kyrie make them worse on that end?

Looks like you might need to get your alts in here to get any sort of discussion going and a score above 1 star?

Kyrie gets his numbers but his style of play reduces everyone else.

they havent figured out chemistry between their stars yet. Everybody wants the iso or post throw in... their stars have to embrace playing off ball and seek open space to get a good look the way a team like golden state does. that way the defense never knows whose the playmaker or play finisher.

They try to play the Warriors-style game but it ends up looking like a B-version of it because 1 they don’t defend well enough and create points off of turnovers and rebounds like GW can and 2 they’re flat out less talented in the shooting department on 75% of nights. When Curry, Thompson or Durant settles for a jumper, it’s still more likely to go in. When the Celtics settle for jumpers, not so much.

Also, there’s an inherent issue with the goals. Are all of these guys committed to doing what it takes to win a title? Are Tatum and Brown seeing potential dollar signs and All-Star games in their futures and playing for that? Is Hayward just doing what he can to get back to 100% and find his role? Is Kyrie just looking to be the leader? Is Marcus Morris just playing for a better deal after this year? I don’t know if Stephens has these guys committed to ONE single vision of winning it all at the expense of the rest right now; it doesn’t look like it from what I’ve seen on the court so far.

This. They need a clear hierarchy. Since a couple of games Kyrie is kind of leading them, but the 2nd through 7th player have no clearly defined role offensively. Nobody actually finding their rhythm.

GSW know it's gonna be Steph and Draymond making a lot of plays for everyone, KD is an unguardable scorer who's willing to make the right pass most of the time and Klay is playing off of all of them. Most importantly, they know that when they give up the ball, if they move well, they'll get it back if they're open. I dunno if the same applies for guys like Brown, Tatum, Rozier, Hayward, Smart and Morris.

Brad Stevens has his work cut out for him.

He's talking about offense though...they've been nothing noteworthy offensively with Kyrie in Boston.

Where they are winning is because of the defense...which he isn't even a positive defender anyway.

Still a relatively small sample for his time in Boston, but Kyrie led offenses to date in his career haven't sniffed the top 10.

Just something to notice for now and keep an eye on.

I agree, guys like that simply can not feel confident that they'll ever see the ball again once it ends up in the hands of Irving. It's just hard to build a rhythm playing like that.
