I don't live there, but I've been three times, I have a buddy there. Short of going to a baseball game, the Cubs play during the day all the time, but there not close to downtown. The Navy pier juts into Lake Michigan, it's filled with little shops and resturants and stuff. There's a boat tour that runs through the river downtown from there too that's a pretty nice trip, really lets you see almost everything even when you don't know where you're going. And the beach is all along there too. You can't miss it, there's a giant ferris wheel at the end of the pier.

Down from the pier is a spot called The Million Dollar Mile (I think). That's like all high end shopping. I guess you'd call it an outdoor mall, but it runs along a main road.

And better at night, there's a block of bars called The Gold Coast. Like thirty bars packed into one block. Good for strolling on a night. Usually a lot of girls.

There's tons of places to eat too. But I only know the places I've been too, and most of them are dinner really.

Take your girl to Millennium Park u will be astonished by the beauty along with Buckingham fountain. Navy Pier, museum of Science and Industry is always fun regardless of age. Id chose a Cubs games because of the rich history around an inside the ballpark. Theres so much fun an interesting stuff to do downtown you cant go wrong wherever you go.

Navy Pier at night for the fireworks. Michigan Ave. is pretty solid for walking around. Millenium Park and the "Bean" is worth a look too
