What a great defensive performance from the Pats, Belichick has coached against all the big names from Montana to Mahomes and he still hasn't lost his mojo, he should be the real MVP. Thoughts on the game...

- Belichick dominated McVay
- Both defenses dominated
- Edelman was balling
- Wade Phillips came out with a great gameplan against the Pats offense
- Goff was downright terrible, not ready for the big moment, panicked at the worst possible moment and threw an INT
- Brady was struggling all game, but again came through in the clutch
- Gurley clearly not 100% healthy
- Pats trading away Cooks did not come back and bite them in the ass

This in many ways reminded me of the first time the Pats and Rams played in the super bowl back in the '01 season, defensive battle throughout, Belichick outsmarting everyone, and Brady with the 4th quarter comeback.

This is the second time in history, and the first in 47 years, that a team has been held to a FG in the SB. It's only the third time in history, and the first time in 44 years, that a SB team didn't score a TD. These are things I just don't understand. One team can have a very bad day--remember Denver vs. Seattle?--but how can two teams that were both very good offensively, playing in the highest offensive era in NFL history, both struggle to score? If it's a chance thing, the odds against this are extraordinarily high. If it wasn't chance, what was it?

It's also the first time in the B-B era that NE has played in a SB that wasn't decided by a single score, though it would have been if the Rams hadn't missed a final FG attempt (and why were they even trying it?)

they went for the fg to cut it to a one score game and then kick it and hope for some miracle play .. that's the only option they had left

Give credit to both Belichick and Wade Phillips, these are two of the greatest defensive coaches ever. The Rams offense with Cooper Kupp injured and Gurley playing with injury wasn't as good as it was in the middle of the season, Pats also lack a vertical threat.

I think Matt Patricia leaving to Detroit was the best thing that happened to the Patriots, as a DC Patricia rarely called a blitz. Belichick revealed after the game that it was Flores who called the all out blitz which resulted in a panicked Goff to throw the 4th quarter INT.

Winning two SBs is impressive so not sure what you're getting at here.

Not a NYG fan either

Brain Flores confirmed called all the plays for the defense in the SB

Same guy who called Butler in the INT play in the Seahawks SB
