red wine bath, that shit must be expensive
his wife introduced him to the concept, which makes sense. It's very similar to vinotherapy, an anti-aging technique where the leftover extractions from the wine-making process are rubbed into the skin. It reduces cellulite and helps people feel more invigorated. As Stoudemire noted, one of the substances in grade seeds -- Flavanoids, to be specific -- prevents red blood cells from sticking together and becoming ineffective.

Not that this isn't one of the more ridiculous things I've ever seen in an attempt to preserve/rejuvenate ones body, as a matter of fact it might be the most ridiculous, but you're seriously overestimating the cost of this.
Assuming the %volume of the tub is roughly 25% water, that's only what? 70~ liters of wine assuming that it's an oversized tub since Amare is 6'9.
Shit a 5 liter bag of franzia is only like $12. That's around $170 to fill up the tub. Let's say he does this regularly, once every 2 days. $30k a year is absolutely nothing to a pro athlete in terms of bankrupting them. Is it still ridiculous? Absolutely, but it's nothing mind blowing or just jeopardizing himself longterm given his income level. Hell I'm sure he spends $5-10k~ on every suit seeing as they're probably bespoke Brioni, Tom Ford, or Kiton.
This is however assuming he would buy shitty wine for the tub. But I doubt he would use something respectable to drink for literally taking a bath. That would run him $75-100 for a decent bottle and his baths would be costing upwards of $7-10k or a million a year
Alas I highly doubt he actually does this regularly. I'm betting he either A. just started this and is giving it a whirl or B. this is just a stunt to get attention. I would lean heavily towards the latter, like a black man from Florida with a black mother converting to Judaism in his 30's

bro these things are obviously affordable, may even be cheap for these athletes. but that doesnt tell the whole story. if he is doing stupid shit like this who knows what else he is doing? you dont get broke by being spending a lot of money, these guys truly are set for life, but you get broke by being an idiot. and his actions just show his idiocy.
basically what i mean is, this waste of money isnt comparable to buying luxurious suits.

What you guys are failing to realize is that AMARE ISNT DOING THIS TO BE "BALLIN" OR SHOWING OFF!
Hes literally trying every trick in the book to get his body back.
Amares a good dude. He sometimes reminds me of a kid where you always dream big, nothing is out of reach in your eyes. He believes that somehow he can make a comeback, and he just keeps trying. There is no doubt that hes one of the hardest working guys in the league when it comes to training. Unfortunately i think Amare is one of those guys who will keep holding on even when its over.
Honestly he should just try PEDs, get your speed and explosiveness back that way.

Sure it is. If this had any positive effect on his basketball ability, whether it be through confidence or god forbid somehow preserved/improved his game ever so slightly, then it is every bit worth the money he's spending.
As I said before, he's either doing this because he believes it could work or he's doing it for show. If he's doing it for show, I highly doubt he's dumb enough to keep up the charade long enough to cost him tens of thousands of dollars. If he's doing it because he thinks it could help, then it's a much better use of money than making it rain in a strip club for $20k or blowing $100k in a casino like many other athletes.
However I would like to say this isn't stating Amare doesn't waste money, I have no idea how the guy lives his life. Theres a very real possibility he falls into the category of dumbass athlete virtually living paycheck to paycheck ignoring the reality that as soon as their body is used up, their earning potential is virtually fractionalized. But this isn't necessarily an example.

If he thinks it works, then would you care? I am sure a bath in wine is cheaper than flying out to Germany to see some special doctor, but when players do that everyone cheers.

Bad example. It was only made public because he made Tyco, amidst their bankruptcy, pay for more than half of the party.
So unless Amare got the Knicks to pay for this, its a dumb investment.
BTW, If its just Franzia its not that big a deal. Cheaper than going out. And Amare still getting >20m/.
