Clinton killed it.....wow what a speech.
The Dems are making what happen at Tampa last week look silly.
Already leaning towards Obama but after the last two nights it's no question.

I just listened to it per your suggestion. My thoughts on it were..
Elizabeth touts the Consumer Financial Protection agency, saying it will protect citizens from the risk-taking banks. Okay, but what about all the bank regulation we had before the crisis? Why didn't they protect us? How come we never talk about cutting the bureaucracies that failed to see the crisis coming?
Elizabeth Warren: "Obama believes in a country where nobody gets a free ride or a golden parachute." Didn't Obama support tax payer bailouts of private companies?
Elizabeth Warren: "Obama believes in a country where anyone who has a great idea and works hard has a chance to build a business." Who cares what someone "believes"? It's about what they actually do. Obama actually supports huge amounts of government spending, which means more taxes, which means less capital is available for business loans. That means less people can start businesses overall. Great idea or no.
He also supports huge amounts of regulation. Before you democrats cheer, keep in mind that regulation is even more cumbersome for small business than big business. Big business can afford the regulatory hurdles, small business cannot. Obama's regulations are expected to cost businesses between $100 million and $4.1 billion more than Bush's, says the Huffington Post.
Overall, her speech is filled with anti-business, class warfare rhetoric. And I know democrats, the rich started it. But you're continuing it, and it is getting scary to be honest. Democrats are just anti-capitalism these days, there's really no other way to put it. Democrats always bitch when conservatives call Obama a socialist, but you turn around and call THIS free markets? You turn around and say deregulation caused the financial crisis, when the entire system is government directed, if not controlled. We have more regulations than we can even count, a gigantic government debt, a central bank, and roughly a 50% income tax for a lot of people. And even if you think the rich pay less than that, anything after 0% is one stop further from capitalism.

I'm not a republican or a democrat..but why are the democrats so obsessed with race. They are so racist. They always use the silly race card. And you have to be an idiot if you vote for someone based on their race or appearance. You vote for the platform.

Are you saying lack of regulation didn't play a big part in the crisis. I'm for more regulation? everyone in the industry also recognizes the need for it. However most legal and compliance doods I think feel Diff Frank is not effective regulation. But this could be biased based on the companies they represent.

I'm certainly no expert in finance or economics but from what I understand regulation is a tricky thing. You want enough safeguards in place to prevent another bubble, but at the same time you don't want to stifle what little recovery we have going.

They celebrate race dude because they are diverse. I think you got it twisted. Did you hear about the black woman getting peanuts thrown at her at the RNC convention last week. That right there is racism.

She was talking about regulation of banks, credit card and other finance companies. Not exactly small business.
Also you don't seem to understand what happened in 2008. How did bad home loans in CA, FL, and NV cause a global crisis where giant businesses failed and giant business stopped lending to other giant businesses? It was because Wall Street fell in love with derivatives like CDOs and CDSs. They fell in love with them precisely because they were unregulated and not transparent.
When these derivatives exploded companies stopping trading with each other because there was no transparency into whether the other trading party would collapse like Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers. Alan Greenspan said his belief that business could regulate themselves was shown to be a false belief.

All of that made legal by the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act during the Clinton administration, something he whole-heartedly supported.
