I'm beginning to think that you could replace the Spurs with WNBA players and Pop would still take them to 50 wins and the second round. Does Duncan even matter anymore? Could be that good discipline and leadership from the head coach is that important?

Yes it most certainly is. You can achieve that in a variety of ways and Pop is about as skilled at doing that as anyone ever has been. He's old school and doesn't put up w/any shit. He came up under Larry Brown and is a real coach and basketball mind. Lots of good coaches came up under LB. His impact on basketball will be felt long after he's dead. That dude is a stone cold teacher.

The first season Duncan is gone, people will realize that the answer to this is a huge YES. Before tonights game, he's leading the Spurs in points, rebounds, and blocks... at 36 years old!

I agree, but I also think some of it hampers them in the playoffs.
