Guy seems pretty arrogant about the situation.
He's lucky to be alive.
He's even luckier to have all his limbs.
Next time show some humility and maybe thank God or something?

I think he should have thanked the tooth fairy. And calling a guy arrogant when he's probably in shock is silly.
It pisses me off when everyone thanks god. Why not thank the teacher who taught you to act? Why not thank your coach? Why not thank the surgeon who spent years studying to save your life? Nope it's all a fictitious character who chose to save your life/make you great at something while dooming billions of other humans to horrible deaths and lives through out history.

That is some seriously amazing video. It's always crazy when nature intervenes in our carefully constructed human activities.
I do disagree with calling this a "shark attack," though. The vast majority of the time when there is a survivor of an "attack" like this one, the shark was just curious and they use their nose to nudge or push objects -- maybe even nibble -- when they're potentially interested. Thankfully, we're not on their menu and even when people are bitten, the shark will usually get a taste and spit the person out.
If a shark were to truly attack a person, there's very little chance of surviving. Depending on the size and the exact species of shark, they could bite a person in half before that person even knew they were there. That those events are so rare speaks to the fact that sharks are really not into us.
But... that doesn't make the video any less intense or the experience any less scary. Wow.

On live TV too makes it even crazier.
I agree with what you've said, there's always been a lot of ignorance around sharks in general with people thinking they eat people as prey which isn't the case. Most shark attacks are mistaken identity or a result of loss of their natural prey. Same goes for things like tigers eating people, most of the time when they hunt down the animal responsible it'll have some sort of injury or problem preventing it from hunting it's natural prey. Of course their dangerous animals still but you don't hear anything about all the times a shark/tiger or whatever has seen a human and just avoided it.

Have you met an Aussie before?
Many of us react that way when we have come out of shock. Mick is a pretty fearless guy in general, so he probably wanted to shrug it off quickly and not let it affect him too much.
That fin though

I bet Mick believed it to be an attack. His legrope was ripped in half? I don't think that shark was coming to do anything but have a go at the surfer.
I define that as an attack? I don't believe you have to lose a limb to be deemed an "attack"
