Against the Spurs, yes.

Pop SINGLED him with the likes of the "Shaq-Stopper", the 6-6 Malik Rose. Hell, Shaq's numbers crumbled when he faced the Spurs from '99 thru '02, and only when he was facing the POS Nesterovich in '03 did he finally put up anything close to his regulae season stats.

BTW, a prime Chamberlain faced RUSSELL in EIGHT playoff series... and all he could do was put up series of 22-25-7, 22-32-10, 28-30, 29-28, 30-31, 31-27, and 34-27 against him.

And here was Shaq being reduced to a POS by a washed up D-Rob, and a 6-6 bench player in his playoff series against the Spurs in '99, '01, and '02. And again, it was KOBE who was getting ALL of the Spurs defensive attention from guys like all-world defender Bruce Bowen, and swarming defenders, including stationing Duncan near the FT-line as a secondary defender.

BTW, how about this footage...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qawbo3NOmR4

Rountinely dunking on BOTH Duncan and Robinson at the SAME time...

That depends on the context around which that statement was made. If we are talking about a hack a Shaq situation in the 4th where they foul him and he cannot make foul shots and put points on the board, then he is certainly a liability in that case.

Chamberlain was AVERAGING 40 ppg in s SEASON against RUSSELL. FIVE games of 50+, including a high of 62.

38 ppg in a season against REED. With high games of 58 and 52.

Two straight SEASONS, covering 20 straight games, against BELLAMY, of 43 ppg and even 52 ppg. Including THREE games of 60+, and a high of 73! BTW, 15 games of 50+ against him.

Destroyed a PEAK Thurmond in '66 and '67. The same Thurmond that a PEAK kareem couldn't hit a shot against in their career H2H's (with a high game of 34 points.)

Hell, a PEAK KAJ faced several of the SAME centers that a PRIME Wilt had faced a few years earlier, and Kareem never came close to dominating them like Chamberlain did (centers like Reed, Bellamy, Thurmond, Dierking, Fox, and Imhoff.)

And yet a 38 year old Kareem was just murdering a prime Hakeem. THREE games of 40+, with a high of 46 (in only 37 minutes.) Hell, a 40 year old Kareem badly outplayed a 25 year old Hakeem.

And yet, a PEAK Shaq's high game against a washed-up Hakeem,...37 points.

They'd practically have to invent their own universe in which Wilt is still not a GOAT candidate (because, stupidly enough, to them, he isn't), the same way Flat Earthers have created their own physics just to refute what he know for centuries.

THIS.

To answer your question...

just who could stop him today?

A 6-9 280 lb Cousins?

A 6-9 270 lb Drummond?

A 6-9 260 lb Howard?

A 6-9 270 lb D Jordan?

Chamberlain would just crush those buffoons. And those four are considered among the best the current NBA has to offer.

Here is the best answer I can give...

He would have scored whatever he wanted.

The current crop of inept centers would either run for the sidelines, or be carried out in body bags.

Here was reality...

the NBA was ROUTINELY creating "anti-Wilt" RULES...virtually NONE of them which had any effect on his dominance (ok, one did...the banning of the dunking of FTs...because of Wilt's "freakish athleticism")...

Had the NBA allowed Wilt to do this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ3FXLyNFew

The league would have had to shut down. Why bother when the man would have scored at will? Not to mention the carnage that would have been dragged off the floor. And yes, he would have done the same in today's NBA.

Imagine Shaq in that video above...in the role of Mutombo, when facing a Chamberlain with no limitations. Shaq would have scampered off the floor like a scared jack-rabbit.

We know Wilt was great.

I have Shaq in my Top-10, but I get a kick out of the NIONSENSE about him being "unstoppable." He was being shut down by Eddy Curry forcryingoutloud. And when he was abusing the goofballs that the '96 Bulls had at center, Rodman came in an completely shut him down.

A 6-6 Malik Rose...the designated "Shaq-Stopper."

The 7-0 stumble-bum, Greg "I can't dunk" Ostertag...holding a peak Shaq to 23 ppg on a .493 FG%.

Hell, he wasn't even considered the best center on his COLLEGE team. He was crushed by none other than Stanley Roberts, whose NBA career was derailed by drugs, fat, and injuries.

The "unstoppable Shaq" was routinely being stopped.

We KNOW that Chamberlain was FAR stronger. And no, Shaq did NOT "outweigh him by alot", either. A mid-60's Wilt weighed anywhere between 290-320. And a 70's Wilt was easily 310+.

An athletic Shaq was between 290-325. A complete tub of lard Shaq ballooned all the way up to 370-380. He could barely dunk at that point.

Again, Shaq did NOT gain STRENGTH in his NBA career. He gained WEIGHT...most all of it FAT.

Shaq had a dominant peak, but his laziness hindered him from being the GOAT. It’s not first time we saw someone have the potential to overtake MJ and fail, and it won’t be the last.
