In the mid 90s a QB who showed the ability to pass at a high level like Donovan McNabb would get a shot at the NFL but someone like Frazier who ran that Nebraska option attack (I don't have extensive memory of Frazier but I know that Osborne had them sticking to the option runs in NB) was not going to be taken seriously by the NFL. It was better than the attitudes in Moon's day but not as good for black QBs as it is now when Newton can run the spread option and a team will still draft him #1 with no hesitation in spite of no one regarding his offense as even slightly pro (although they do at least pass in it).

That is simply not true......race has no bearing on who the coaches and GMs play in the NFL...anyone who says otherwise is a complete racissss and member of the KKK or Black Panthers....in the NFL they play the best players because they are trying to win championships and no other factors come into play.....therefore, if Warren Moon had to serve a "high melanin QB" apprenticeship in Canada it was stricktly for a football related reason.......... ......and the tooth fairy is coming tonight........

Is it really that dumb to think Tebow will end up being better than Newton? If we are talking about who is better now then the answer is probably Newton but for the future it could go either way.

Our fanbase couldn't disagree with you more. Even if it causes us a few games now we realize that Rivera's vision of baptizing Newton by fire to develop him for the future is a smart plan.

And even when only referring to this year its crazy to me how fast people forget that 1) we were supposed to be the worse team in the league 2) we have won more games this year than we did last with injuries to 3 of our best defensive players and 3) 2 of our losses were because of special teams and a few others were because of mistakes on D.

This isn't debatable.

Cam Newton is the better QB. The offense is designed around him taking risks and trying to throw the deep ball much more often than Tebow. He's not being protected in any sense out there.

Tebow's low turnover percentage is great but he's not making risky plays out there mainly because the offense isn't predicated off of that.

As players, Newton passes and runs better. He's quicker, taller, and has a much stronger arm.

I think both have shown great leadership skills though.
