moreover, RJ was never a great enough outside shooter to take advantage of VC's double teaming abilities.

anyway, this current Nets team still has a -3.7 point differential and is 6-6.

UNless they improve their defense, the Nets will really go downhill fast soon.

because the Nets have not played the West very much, and besides tonight's victory over the hapless Clippers, the Nets were totally destroyed by the Suns

imagine the schedule later when the NEts have to play the Spurs, the Lakers, the Rockets, the Hornets, even the Mavericks and Trailblazers.

Well, it's much better for the Nets to win more games than having Devin Harris put up 30+ pts every night. Look how terrible the Spurs were in the beginning of the season. Both Duncan and Parker were averaging around 30ppg but they lost 4 out of their first five games.

But the statistics show that when Devin shoots a high percentage and scores 30+, we win. And when he is not able to score, we usually lose. He is the bulk of our offense. It runs through him. The whole point of it is for the ball to be in his hands for the majority of the time and for him to drive in and score/kick to open players.

Kidd and RJ needed to go. Let it go. It was a failed experiment, and we were over the luxury tax.

sure, we as fans may not appreciate that so much. we say: "so suck it up. they get paid so much anyway."

well, have any of you played basketball for a stretch nonstop? not just shooting around with friends. hard nosed basketball against the cocky kids in the park who love nothing more than to embarass you on the court. the mutual animosity leads to your playing defense like you have never played before, and working immensely hard to get an open shot.

have you ever played for hours on end, that at the end of the day, you go home feeling like your knees are going to come off? and you need to ice it? have you ever played again the next day? how fatigued would you be?

now imagine being pressure to do this all the time when losing is not an option.

that's what I mean by rookie wall

anyway, because of the lack of real expectations, the young players should be fairly at ease and not too stressed. after all, mental preparation is 90% o the game
I know.. I was just adding to what you said.

oh yeah I know.

if I seemed too cold or anything, don't pay that any mind. I was just writing some stuff out.

anyway, prior to the season, the consensus seemed to be:

Boston
DEtroit
CLeveland
Orlando

were locks for the playoffs

the likely to make it included:

Washington
Toronto
Atlanta
Philadelphia

the maybes included

Miami
Indiana

with Washington out of the picture and Toronto and Philly struggling, I see a legitimate chance for these current Nets to have more than no chance.

of course, Toronto and Philly can definitely turn things around... but with Teabag Smitch in charge, I dont' see TOronto making a charge to 50 wins and because Elton Brand monopolizes the ball so much with such a lack of 3 point shooters on that team, Philly is going to continue to struggle until they get a sniper.

i hardly think that brand monopolises the ball. have you watched them this season? they've actually got a very egalitarian offense with AI2, thaddeus venture and andre miller getting lots of touches and shots. in fact those four all average about 15 ppg.

but i do agree about the lack of 3pt shooting, sort of. venture and willie green have been tearing it up from downtown, and donyell marshall and rush have been quite good so far. problem so far seems to be lack of attempts.

i think philly has the best chance to crack the top four in the east. their main problem so far has been trying to integrate brand into the offense, but that should work itself out eventually. second half of last season they were incredible without brand.

But we can't expect Devin to put up huge numbers every night, can we? Look at the Lakers, they are rolling even if Kobe Bryant is having a bad shooting night. What if both Carter and Harris are not doing well for some games?
