Default Should a citizens vote be allowed to be sold?

For apolitical citizens or citizens who do not care much for either candidate in a lethargic election year, do you think they should have the right to sell their vote?

I mean right now they either don't vote or they throw their vote away on a third party candidate.

at least selling the vote would gain utility for both sides involved

of course not. Bringing an actual business aspect of citizen's votes would open the door to a level of corruption that we can't even comprehend.

So we essentially sell the Presidency to the highest bidder?

citizenship will really have its priviledges then ($$$). At least in the short term.

this concept is ridiculous

As if corporate campaign donations and special interest groups don't have enough to do with the voting process... selling votes would effectively turn citizens into shares of stock.

good point. bad corruption.

but let's look at a small scale. let's say... you dont care much for the Democratic and Republican candidate this year.

your friend who is an avid (insert party) wants to pay you $1 to vote for his/her candidate. now ONE VOTE is not going to swing the election.

would you accept teh dollar and vote for him? out of principle this whole thing is I guess

If Bush can rig the computers to automatically vote for him, I want atleast a dollar in return.
