A Suns training camp that has already had its share of strains, sprains and other maladies continued on a similar tone Sunday when All-Star Shawn Marion sat out most of the workout with back spasms, putting his availability for Tuesday’s season opener in Los Angeles in question.
“It’s sore, no doubt,” said Marion, who took a few jumpers to begin practice before feeling pain during a one-on-one drill and taking a seat. “I’m getting treatment (Sunday) and some more before practice (today) and hopefully I’ll be good to go.
“I don’t want to sit out. If I’m decent, I’ll go.”
Marion initially hurt the back taking a charge from Andrew Bynum of the Lakers in the first half Oct. 22 in San Diego. He played only two minutes of the second half but came back to play 28 minutes the next night against Seattle. He was able to practice all week before the pain increased Sunday.
