Evolution and lack of Great White Hope/Hype
Hope/Hype
Hope = White who delivered
Hype = White who failed to deliver hope
1960s Mikan/?
1970s West/Maravich
1980s Bird/Chambers
1990s Stockton/Laetner
2000s Gasol/Van Horn
2010s Kristaps/Love
Who is going to carry the torch and give white fans a player they can identify with? I can identify with Kevin Love, we're both 'bros' and I could easily see myself playing beer pong with Love and then I'd score with one of his leftover girls when he went home with the hotter one.
Maravich I'd smoke a blunt and we'd chill out to Deep Purple and nekkid hippie girls.
Larry Bird, man I know I'd get along with him, we could shoot guns and complain about flashy black players.
John Stockton, I'd trust that guy with my newborn. He just excudes that good guy vibe, unlike Malone, I'd keep my teenage daughter far from Malone.
Kristaps I don't know, he's a bit too slavic, can't really relate.

It's not racist at all, as is probably obvious my favorite players are black (MJ and Sir Charles).
Also Pau Gasol is obviously white lol, we're not using retarded American classifications.

Why not? There's nothing incriminating.
Countries indetify themselves apart from other countries
Animals and other animals
Cultures and other cultures
What's WRONG is acting as if your race is superior to others
But just generalizing a race into a department isn't wrong.
Btw I'm white

If LeUgly wasnt such a racist selfish player, love would flourish

Re: Evolution and lack of Great White Hope/Hype
By your definition Jimmer would be the "Great White Hype" for the 2010s.
But of course that doesn't fit your agenda

You're right Dirk should have been the 00, but he is just very forgettable in his personality.

He is? Are you talking off the court interviews or his on court personality? I always thought he had a good bit of character on the court. I personally don't really care about off the court or in interviews. I try to avoid that stuff in general.

Mikan retired in 1956. At that time, I think the league was still all white.
For the sixties, if you wanted to engage in this exercise, you might pick Havlicek, or West, Jerry Lucas, or Bob Pettit and Cousy for early sixties.
For the seventies, you have Cowens, Havlicek still, Rick Barry, Bill Walton, Billy Cunningham. At least pick some guys who were great and had a chance to win.
Alongside Bird, there is McHale. Also Laimbeer.
Also forgetting Nash, Manu, Dirk, Sabonis, etc...

It's not that simple.
It's about the White who gave the lesser whites a feeling of hope, that we too, despite lesser hops, could dominate the game we love.
Then there's they Hype that White who we all hoped would give us Hope but let us down and became a weak jumpshooter (Laetner, Van Horn, Love).
As said, Sabonis is also a bit too slavic. Dirk is German and Nash is Canadian, no can do.
