This guy earned his stripes in the '11 playoffs. He neutralized Bynum, dominated Perkins and completely eradicated Joel Anthony.

He's underrated for his all around play. He's not just a defender anymore.

almost everyone acknowledges he's a good pick and roll player, and a good finisher aside from being a great defender. that sounds to me like he's just rated fine. not under or over. why, what else can he do?

He's not just a good pick and roll player. It's between Tyson, DHO, Amare as who is the best pick and roll big in the World.

Amare is clearly number 1, Tyson right now is doing it as well or better than Howard. Tyson has become a legit 3rd or 4th option playing this role. Which is why you don't want to demote his production, and you surely don't want to deminish what Amare can do out of that set....so he's gotta do it off the bench.

As for his defense. Tyson repeatedly says that his role has changed defensively. Woodson wants him to be less aggressive coming away from the basket and on pick and rolls. Forcing the guards to be more aggressive as Tyson lays back, he says that its been a tough adjustment for him. Tyson's aggressiveness defensively is what makes him special there....We'll see how it continues to work. The laid back style is more for someone like Sheed or Camby or Amare.
