I'm not the first to mention it but it's time we seriously discuss it, Brian Colangelo must fire Sam Mitchell! The 39 point a$$ kicking the Raptors received last night is only the tipping point.
In his 5 years with the Raptors, Mitchell compiled 156 wins versus 188 losses, he's been in the playoff twice but got knocked out in the first round both times. I will give it to him, Same Mitchell did quite an impressive job for a "rookie" coach, he was named Coach of the year in 2007 but that was largely thanks to Brian Colangelo and coaching in a weak division. But there's where my praises stop.
As great as Sam Mitchell is with young players, the Raptors need a coach that will tap their potential, an X's and O's guy that will draw up plays to amplify the teams strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Enough with comming out of time-outs and looking foolish, enough with the "We didn't make our shats" and finally enough with the Raptors underacheiving! I aknowledge that the Raptors are a couple pieces away from becoming a contender, but they should still be a playoff lock and a new coach might do the trick.
His inability to recognize that Bargs cannot guard someone like Carmelo, alone should be enough to get him gone. In general he lacks the capacity to scheme relative to the team he is facing, and react to coaching moves in any way. Additional: I suspect he is about one blow out from completely losing the room, and Bosh tuning him out entirely. Once that happens he is gone...or so I pray.
