The Lakers did make a roster move Monday, signing center D.J. Mbenga to a 10-day contract. The 7-foot native of Congo has career averages of 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in 95 games.
I look Forward to DJ whatever bringing his whopping 1 point and 1 rebound to the Lakers.
What a difference maker, that’s about 1 more point, and 1 more rebound that I would give the Lakers.

1 more point diff....when they tend to slack on defense and give away points on turnover or Kwame throwing away usually on freethrows, i'm not sure if it will make any difference. maybe marginally better.
wow kupchak at his best.
why webber, why PJ when DJ Mbenga is available
he can still make a run for an all-star spot
lookin at our roster, and our near schedule
its pretty obvious that hard times are coming...
Wow, its a 10 day contract relax!
Webber is still taking his time like a queen to choose and by that time, the contract will be up....Its not even a garunteed contract we can waive him anytime.

According to most sorces PJ Brown is not interested in returning to the NBA at this time and was the Lakers #1 choice. Webber is choice #2 but has informed the Lakers he has not made a decision yet.
And like Lakerfreak mentioned its only a 10 day contract. They can sign him to two 10 day contracts before having to make a long term decision on him and hopefully by that time Webber will decide to come to LA

relax guys, i know its 10 days.
but still, its kinda funny - all the media are screaming "LA is looking for a big man to help".
and the move we make - we sign a 1pp 1rpg player
anyway - we are in the hole with Brown. everyone are saying that brown is not that bad, becouse he can defend. So when there was Webb/PJ debate, i gave my vote for Webb (becouse he can score). Its kinda logical - brown can defend, Webb can score.
But now, we've signed a guy that is supposed to be a help in the defence.
So wtf? what do we need brown for now?
he can't score - we know that; but now there is a guy he probably will replace him in the defence. so what will brown do now? play at SF position?
i would'nt be surprised if signing mbenga is the first step to trading Kweme.
andredpg, they need a backup center reguardless if its an offensive or defensive one. Turiaf is more effective at the 4 spot and now he might see time at the 3 with Ariza going down.

Please quit the kuptchak crap.
Seriously..
Sometimes the people here love him for the great things he did and now he is hated.
thats not fair to mitch....its not his fault bynum got injured...
I think the sentiments are that the Lakers cannot seem to get an impact player, no matter what the circumstances... they never seem to be able to pull the trigger on a Webber or equivalent player anymore. Mbenga is about as exciting and inspiring as watching a fly go up a drape.
