Nope, for 2 reasons (and good comparison to pistons last year)

1) mavs are winning with defense while pistons won with offense. strange, but true.
2) mavs play their starters a lot less than a lot of other teams. even though they are winning, they are not killing anyone.

The mavs led the league in games missed due to injury 2 years ago and were i believe second last year. Josh howard also played the finals with a broken thumb. That is what im talking about. What the hell do kj, googs, ceballos, dumas and miller have to do with anything??? if were gonna go back that far, dallas can mention roy tarpley.

the same happened to detroit last year, they were better as a 50 win underdog than the 64 win favorite juggernaut.

I think that the Mavs will be just fine. Obviously, the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment or chance thereof.

they'll choke. its inevitable. obviously the mavs r trying to make ppl forget about theyre 2-0 choke job. in the end they'll lose to somebody like utah or the lakers in 4 and they can try to win 70 games next year all over again

I'm quite suspicious of that statement. Denver, Utah, Phoenix, Lakers, New Orleans, Miami, and Houston have all probably been far more injury riddled over the past 3 seasons than Dallas.

i see where the thread starter is coming from...

however,

this just seems to be the mavs' time. if there's ever a year when theyre gonna win it, this is the year. (pistons aint as bad as they used to be, shaq/wade seem to be done, lakers aint there yet, spurs aint as complete as they used to be, suns are still the suns)

last year dirk, jet, damp and diop were the only people who DIDNT miss 21 or more games for dallas.

to be clear, dallas' injuries still dont compare to a team like the rockets last year because all man games missed due to injuries arent equal. Ie devean george being hurt and tmac being hurt both count as a missed game but obviously one has more impact than the other. (also applies to amare and so on and so forth)

How can it be the same when nothing has happened yet? We are still in the regular season. It's still to be determined how far they will go in the playoffs.

we are discussing what could happen here, detriot last year's regular season was a mirror image of dallas's this year, if dallas doesnt win the ring it'll be pretty much the same, emphasis on WHAT IF here, this is a what if thread.

When was the last time the team with the best regular season record won the championship? I'd look it up, but I'm too lazy.

There is always the chance that an upset could happen. However, the Mavs all have the mind set needed to finish this up. Dirk had said on many occasions that their season may be great, but it will mean nothing unless they finish. They are winning their games and are confident, and at the moment I really think they can pull it off this year.
