Jesus christ. I don't know if this is a trolling exhibition or just really dumb people.

Lionel Messi is one of the greatest footballers of all time. Up there with Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbauer etc. Gerd Muller is one of the best goalscorers and one of the best strikers of all time. There is genuinely no comparison nor should there be.

Football isn't like Basketball where how many rings you have dictates your standing in the game. Neither Messi or Ronaldo have won an international tournament but they're by far the two greatest footballers on the planet (along with Xavi and Iniesta).

Luca Toni has won a World Cup... Luca Toni > Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Johan Cruyff, Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, Michel Platini, George Best etc?

yeah but he is throwing me some random numbers like he even knows the dude... he is just a big name in germany, austria... but i bet 95% of his fans barely watched a game of his... like many fans in the nba forum of the great bill russell.. or the great pistol pete etc etc

its like someone who still isnt even born, 40 years from now talks about how great mario gomez was and throws out his goalscoring record and accomplishments ( lets say germany wins next WC for example )

To an extent.

Does Gerd Muller's one World Cup win make him a better footballer than guys like Johan Cruyff and Alfredo Di Stefano? No, quite clearly not. So why does it make him a better player than Lionel Messi who is also one of the best there's ever been.

Champions League's? Messi's won 3 and was the main guy in 2 of the victories. He's usually top scorer in the Champions League. The only player to have scored 5 goals in a Champions League match.

3x Ballon d'Or winner and favourite to make it 4 in a row.

Muller was great but he wasn't in the same league as guys like Messi, Pele, Maradona and Cruyff. Those are the best there's ever been.

Not like Pele, Maradona and others never missed a penalty.

80 goals, but where are they when it matters?

Messi missed another penalty today, seems like a habit.

He also scored. Another habit

Where are they when it matters? Yeah, he hasn't scored winning goals in two different Champions League finals nor was he the catalyst behind Barcelona's golden period under Pep Guardiola.

Just shut up trolling.

people, this move was a business deal.

Normally Fergie would not go for guys who have already peaked, rather picking the youth off from other clubs and then integrating them.

Man Utd can't compete in the premier league like that anymore, Man City, Chelsea and even Liverpool are opening up their pockets and landing some HUGE talents.

With Man Utd going public on the stock exchange they have to show that they are prepared to produce a winning team every year amidst all the transfers in the EPL or risk of failing to draw investors to pay down their debts (a la Celtics, CLE Indians, Florida Panthers)

Im a ManU fan and personally I think the move was an OK move. Not great. RVP is definitely an elite striker in the world and will be great in the style that Man Utd plays, he'll get so much service on crosses from guys like Nani, Young, Kagawa, especially Valencia. Playing with Rooney will also give him more time on the ball as rooney is both a threat and a great playmaker (although he's a fat ass lol)

Long term is where this deal falters. We failed to land Lucas Moura (I almost shed a tear) who would've been more than a short term fix to our depth, but long term he couldve been the star of the future. RVP is has peaked already IMO. I don't know if he'll have another 12 months as good as he had ending just prior to the Euros.
