you just said 'dogs are too smart to be eaten' .. you also stated the death penalty should be considered .. that leads me to believe that you care a lot about dogs because they're humanized to you ..

well pigs are just as smart or smarter than dogs .. they're very aware and sentient animals .. their awareness and sentient nature doesn't change because they're 'bred to be eaten' .. so why would you be ok with them being eaten and not dogs ?

It's pretty clear in nature, that predators generally don't eat other predators. That's why humans will eat chickens, but not eagles or vultures. You might eat a rabbit, but not a cat. There's something in us that knows not to eat predators.

Why eat a cow and not a bear? Because bears eat meat. Raw meat. Cows eat grass. There isn't the same kind of risk of diseases or parasites jumping species to species when you eat vegetarian animals, especially in the case of mammals.
