The Mavericks still have one roster spot open and are exploring the feasibility of filling it with the best free-agent big man still available: Kyrylo Fesenko. Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Saturday that the Mavericks, even after signing local high school product Sean Williams as a third center earlier this week, have extended a one-year offer to Fesenko.
The best available? LOL! I'll still take a 38 year old Tag over this worthless stiff, I don't care how big he his.
The power forward is practicing today with the Utah Jazz for the second day in a row after being sidelined for about a week with right quadriceps tendinitis.
Officially listed as day-to-day, Millsap said he is back to "full speed." He didn't experience soreness after his
practice return Friday.
"I tried to do a lot of movements that I felt like I'd be doing in the course of a real game," he said. "Everything went good. ... Ready to roll."
It's good timing for Millsap's return, especially considering the Jazz traded away center Mehmet Okur on Thursday. Millsap gives the Jazz one more interior weapon for Tuesday's season-opener at the Los Angeles Lakers.
For precautionary measures, Millsap sat out both preseason games and missed the team's intrasquad scrimmage.
"He looked really good. I think he's healed completely," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "He ran really well yesterday and he was happy to be back on the floor and we were happy to have him."
David Locke: Tyrone Corbin today "We may have match-ups we can take advantage of so we may start small some time, fast other times."
Well I like that he is being open to different line-ups but you need some stability too. Millsap is the one guy that needs to be starting and playing as much as possible though and he's the one guy everyone wants on the bench!
Toronto is trying to clear roster space to sign Fessenko so they could possibly do a sign and trade. Calderon? Barbosa? Kleiza? Bayless? Amir Johnson? Weems Bird rights? Maybe they want Harris or Jefferson or CJ while throwing in Raja or get othr teams involved that do?
I don't get why people want to trade on of the Millsap/Favors/Jefferson trio. That's really their only strength. Package Kanter, and Harris's contract, or the trade exception, and maybe even a draft pick for a good point guard and they're set for the long term with this squad.
Looks like the Warriors won the coin toss. Jazz need the Raptors, Pistons, Timberwolves, Blazers, Bucks, Suns, or Rockets to score the top 3 picks in order to push GS back down to #8.
