The 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year just had one of the sickest defensive performances in NFL history from start to finish. The linebacker, who had a career-high 16 sacks to set a team record and led the NFL with a career-high seven forced fumbles, beat Dallas' DeMarcus Ware in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters announced Monday. Pittsburgh was the league's stingiest in total defense, pass defense and points allowed. Harrison was its main hammer. The Steelers didn't allow a 100-yard rusher or 300-yard passer in 2008. Harrison didn't limit his work to that stingy unit, though: Harrison also had 12 special teams tackles.
During Super Bowl XLIII, Harrison intercepted a pass from Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner at the goal line and ran back the length of the field for a 100-yard touchdown at the end of the first half. It was the longest play in Super Bowl history (surpassing Desmond Howard's 99-yard kickoff return in Super Bowl XXXI) and helped the Steelers defeat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23.
Before the game, Gregg Easterbrook (author of Tuesday Morning Quarterback from Page 2 on ESPN.com) named Harrison the 2008 Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-QB Non-RB NFL MVP.

With the 22nd pick in the ISH NFL Mock Draft, Statman32 selects...
Joey Porter, OLB, Miami Dolphins
The 2008-2009 season saw a rejuvenated Joey Porter return to his old indomitable form, leading the AFC and finishing second in the NFL with a career-high 17.5 sacks; thus, Porter played an integral role in metamorphosing the 1-15 Dolphins of 2007-2008 into a 11-5 AFC East Champion football team. Porter has since been rewarded for his strong play and award-worthy revival by earning his fourth Pro Bowl and was named 2nd Team All-Pro.
