There have been two things turning me (partly) away from hiphop the last few years:


1. dumb beefs. and not just a few, but loads and loads of dumb beef. especially with 50 involved. dude's a dramaqueen.

2. autotune voices
hated that high hatted moronic autotune singer t-pain. then along comes 90% of the rappers and r&b singers doing the same dumb **** too. ive download about 70 songs from the past 3 months this morning, and 80% features dumb autotune crap. from jamie foxx to gucci mayne etc. get the **** outta here

Here, here. Man, I always thought I'd be the old dude with baggy clothes listening to "kids music" but I'm about sick of rap. Not hip hop, rap. I only check for a few cats. Jay, Nas, Jada, TI, Game, and that's about all I can think of. I was feelin Kanye and Common till they went all outerspace crazy.I'm actually getting back into R&B but the young dudes make me sick. All that whining and crying and $hit. Think I'll start bumpin country music or something.

Is 50 Cent even relevant today? Does he still make music? Does G-Unit still exist? The last G-Unit affiliated cd I listened to was Straight Outta Cashville. 50 was overexposed, by his own doing or the media hype around him, and faded into relative obscurity pretty damn quick. Get Rich Or Die Trying went hard, he became a star, and then it just seems like he tried too hard, with the movie, vitamin water, that ugly ass G-Unit clothing line, the ugly ass shoes, etc etc.

He did go hard on the old mixtapes and Get Rich Or Die Trying though.

'curtis' went hard too, but not as hard as 'get rich'. 'get rich' has been one of the better albums of the decade.

and curtis jackson is a businessman first, rapper second. that's why he made 50 cent a household name. i have nothing but respect for 50 the man is brilliant.

You must be faded right now. Get Rich was hot for one reason and one reason only. Dre. This chump aint sellin no more records. He jumps in beefs to sell records (A-La Tupac) but it just doesn't work. Kanye sonned him and it wasn't even close. And sorry, but let's be real. Curtis was gar-bage. I wanted money back and all I did was download it.

And just for the record, that was the beginning of his career, he was entirely forgettable and nobody noticed or cared about his appearance on that Onyx song from 10 years ago. Now in XXL he's kind of admitting it. The porn is the icing on the cake. Sad thing is Ross has been rapping alot better than he ever has lately, its going to get lost in the beef. 50 needed this one so badly. While I agree that he had a great run for a few years, what was the last legit hit that G-Unit had? Mobb Deep flopped. Yayo's album flopped. Banks's last album flopped. TOS flopped. Curtis did okay, but Graduation ended up beating it. And 50's last few singles flopped. And that's not even mentioning the numerous artists who either left G-Unit or are nowhere career-wise. So honestly, is he really THAT great of a businessman?

50's whole argument has been that he's not the greatest lyricist, but he knows how to make hits. Well what was the last legit hit that he's actually had?

Bottom line. 50 knows his popularity is coming to the end. So he has to resort to wearing a wig and making cartoons. This whole thing just reeks of desperation.

And for the record, I like 50 way more than I like that clown Ross but at the moment Officer Ricky is putting out better music.

Yea, I'm just takin your word for it. I used to be up on all the latest hiphop news. Now, I have no idea whats going on. People were making chris brown jokes days before i got it. Am I getting old? Kind of a different situation from Jay and Nas. In most people's top 5 D.O.A. Two lyrical heavyweights. None of Ross' songs have been 1/10 as effective as Ether has. Nor did Jay need the battle with Nas to help dig him out of the abyss that 50 is in as far as mediocrity goes. This battle has had a really silly, Ill out point your flaws battle since the beginning. When Jay said that he did Carmen people were left baffled because we had been waiting for that lyrical pure hip hop battle for a whille. He recovered from it of course. But he lost that battle.

i would never ask 50 to manage my music career, but i wouldn't mind him being an executive producer on an album - helping me choose beats, write a hook here and there, help market the album, etc. 50 still has it in that sense. but how many hit singles can you really expect from lloyd banks and tony yayo? the fact that they even had each is amazing. or how about an over the hill mobb deep? they haven't been hot since 'amerikaz nightmare' imo, and even then prodigy sounded lazy as hell. how about M.O.P, who has never had big hits anyway? 50 has made some terrible signings, but most artists usually do at first. i'd give him another year or two before i can write him off completely.

i would agree that ricky has been improving with time and 50 has regressed since 'get rich'. living in new york, i can't be unbiased and say 50 doesn't make hits any more because his stuff still gets played here all the time. i hear 'i get it in' all the time, so i wouldn't know how his songs are doing on a national level.
