Default What If the Clippers Lose to Memphis?

What does it do to the Clippers' chances of keeping Chris Paul beyond next season? Say Memphis wins in 6 games, that's the same result Paul had last season in New Orleans.

Is Blake Griffin enough to keep Paul?

Are we heading for another year of drama with Paul and Howard?

He's locked in for at least another year and I'm sure he understands how valuable he is, taking a team from the lottery to the playoffs with a huge turn around in a shortened season without training camp to build chemistry. It is also nothing like the Hornets scenario where his second best player was David West. Blake is on an entirely nother level

But does he take it that way? Does he look at the Clippers and wonder if they ever get there and still want to bolt?

Clippers have a good core. The obvious problem is they don't have a method of filling in the holes of their roster.

They have no 1st round draft pick this year. There aren't a lot of good free agents available.

he's in a pretty good situation, but you know in the back of his mind he's thinking 'this is still the clippers and the clippers are never winning a championship'

if they don't go deep by next year, there's a good chance he bolts

If he does, I'm expecting it to be in the way Elton Brand did as a free agent.

They have a first next year, they can trade Bledsoe for a mid first most likely (15-23 range), have the amnesty available and if Mo opts out, they'll have cap space if I recall correctly. If Mo doesn't opt out, he's a $8,500,000 expiring contract which can net a decent rotation player or two. Gomes will also be a $4,000,000 expiring this coming summer as well.

Depends on next year's playoffs and Griffin's improvement! He badly needs a legit 2nd scoring option especially during crunch time.

If they are still a 1st round exit next year, I think he will leave them. Thunder, Grizzlies, Mavs(if they get Deron), Jazz will get better next year. Spurs and Lakers will always be competitive. So Clippers better add the right pieces this offseason!

If they put up a good a fight with Memphis and perhaps upgrade their coach in the off-season, I could see that solidifying the likelihood that CP3 stays.
