I'm not sure why anyone would say he was good 4 years ago. I guess they don't watch basketball. He had potential then but he wasn't good. He's better now than 4 years ago but that isn't saying much. He really hasn't been a good defender. He's been a big body that takes up space. The one thing we can hope is that he realizes he has one last shot at getting a big contract like he had before and the only way for him to do that is to play extremely well this year.
Kwame is look at for being bust because he was number one pick. The thing is he is serviceable enough to maintain a job in this league. Where are guys like Michael Olawkandi[sp]? He can't get a job and he is just as available. Kwame was sought after by the Hawks at the time we picked him up.
He won't have pressure here to be the guy as we have plenty of good players from Sheed, Dyess, Max, Amir, and Samb all readily available to play and step up. Hopefully he has improved upon his bad habits in these last 7 years… In Detroit, performing well in practice as well as in games earns time.
I hope he will be able to provide what Michael Curry and his staff seek from him. And in the end… here in Detroit, there will always be a worse Kwame no matter how bad Mr. Brown performs on the court…
