Default COD Modern Warfare

anyone else excited about this? they even got a night mode that looks tight. beta is available now, official release on October 20. Cross play across Xbox, PS4 AND PC sounds pretty cool.

I usually don't enjoy COD's arcade'y feel, but the BETA for MW was great. The guns had a lot of weight to them

But as a Battlefield dweeb that likes the all out 64 mp warfare w vehicles + destruction, i'm going to wait and see their larger scale maps are. 10v10 just doesn't scratch that itch

Next wknd is open beta for 32v32 mode

BFV was a disappointment

yeah i'm not a fan of the small scale gameplay. one reason i like battlefield is bc their 64v64 is cool, not to mention the last couple of COD titles have been utter shit. i'm hoping this is like the original modern warfare...i use to stay up past midnight on school days playing this.

Everybody who's been streaming says its bad and it feels like every other call of duty. And just watching them stream, I'd have to agree. I watched the Angry Joe review and he didn't like it either. So I guess I may stick to Black Ops 4. Now Borderlands 3? I'm getting that. Already got Gears 5.

not the gunplay and mechanics

the map designs do though, other than entering buildings with windows/doors. The maps all feel like paintball/speedball COD style

I don't know, graphics don't really matter to me. If it's a shooter and it has good game play, I'm in. I'm a very versatile gamer when it comes to shooters. I'll play COD, Halo, Destiny, Far Cry, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Rainbow Six, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Doom, Battlefield, Borderlands, Bioshock. I can go Quake, Unreal Tournament. However you want it.

I was late getting into Borderlands and Bioshock. Borderlands has content for DAAAAAAYYYYYYSSSSS. Its packed with loot, exploration, weapons, secrets, etc. The amount of weapons is what sets it apart.

But I love Gears of War because to me, it has the most stylish game play and the highest learning curve to become REALLY good. After that, I'd probably say Quake/Unreal has the highest skill gap between great players and bad players.

Now Fortnite? I can't do it. That is WAAAYYY to cartoony and kid friendly for me.

I do think the gunplay and mechanics are good but that I think the gunplay and mechanics are good in the majority of Call of Duty games even if they do feel similar. I've always preferred Black Ops as that seems to be the best mix of run and gun and tactical gameplay out of all of them. Specialists not withstanding. But I play barebones mode on Black Ops 4 which is just gunplay and scoring streaks, no specialists. I missed out on Black ops 1 and 2 but I played 3 a lot and I play 4 now.

Like you said though, the main issue I see so far with MW are the maps are just so small and tight. You could be very patient, look around thoroughly and as soon as you move, you get shot in the back from somebody coming around the corner you JUST checked, lol. I tend to like smaller maps but at the same time, there needs to be a balance or there's no reason to use any of the long range weapons.

agree

I don't like how COD incentives reward you for killstreaks, that's where squad and team play go to die. That's why BF larger maps on conquest, capturing/defending positions have more replay value.

On COD capturing points, it's like a 20 meter box to defend and you just get pancaked from all angles. There's no tactical strategy unless your mic'd up with friends

i do agree about the small maps.

didn't realize cod was still rolling with smaller maps.

i guess that's what sets battlefield apart, and i'm a huge battlefield fan. way easier to stay in the game in a larger map despite 64players.

Yeah, I've always had love for shooters with a lot of people. At first I didn't like Battlefield because I don't necessarily love vehicles in my shooters but I got used to it and realized you need them in a game like Battlefield.

MW maps are like REALLY small and on top of that, you can get shot by somebody from like a million different windows. Then the building themselves, while small, have like a million different corridors, you might as well run around with a shotgun which I saw a lot of in the beta.

TBH, I haven't played the beta myself, only watched streams. I'm going to check out the game of course when it comes out because why not. Hey, I work everyday and I'm a gamer so I'll have the money to get it, lol.
