Default Is Vegeta the biggest underachiever in Anime History?

I am really into Anime again. I have been watching the Dragonball Z episodes on the net. Anyway it just strikes how, big of an underachiever Vegeta was. He was the only character in DBZ segas that never got his shine in.

Prince of All Saiyans. When he first came to planet Earth his partner Nappa was the one that defeated Piccolo, an Tien. Then when it was his turn to fight he almost got beat by a 5 year old Gohan. They spared his life in the Namek series, he lost to Frieza's top men, not to mention beating beat by Frieza himself. In the Android saga, he lost to Android 17 and 18, and then got controlled by that green freak. Cell saga lost also. The only time i can recall him winning was when he fused with Goku.

Has there every been an underachiever like this before, maybe Team Rocket from Pokemon can make a strong case?

    Naruto and Kakashi?

Kakashi has been an underdog in almost all his fights.

Underachiever? He just got a poor deck of cards at birth. haha. My dude worked 100X harder than Goku but was simply born weaker than him and there was nothing he could do about it. Can't blame him, he tried his heart out every time.

^^^ Come on, dude has got to get some props on his work ethic. Even though his personality sucked and he was overlyconfident.

    Son Gohan

Mystic Gohan/Ultimate Gohan was the strongest non fused character in the Dragon Ball Z Manga, but he failed to defeat Majinbu.

I think if Gohan have the work ethic, street hunger, and the perseverance of Son Goku.

He could have been the greatest hero in Anime History.

Vegeta was awesome, the best character on that show. My favorite was when he became Majin Vegeta and turned on everyone.

The biggest underachiever is probably Spike in cowboy bebop-all that talent but he never went anywhere and wasted his life being a bounty hunter. He was a bum.

Mystic Gohan also, he was supposed to be the strongest guy ever and got eaten up by Boo.

Don't forget about Gotenks as well, they could have killed boo in 2 seconds but instead decided to play around with him. What an underachievement.

Vegeta did his best in every fight, you can't say he underachieved.

Seriously, shouldnt Piccolo be the most powerful fighter? He's telepathic, can regenerate, superhuman strength/hearing, move fast enough to be invisible and he grow to be as big as a mountain.

    How do you beat that?

Vegeta went hard though. He would have broken arms and ribs and still fight on. He was no punk, If he had Goku's powers, he would second to Piccolo.

Kamehameha right to back of the head after instant transmissioning behind him. And when he grows as big as a mountain, Kamehameha right through his brain, it makes it a bigger target.

sure he didn't actually kill buu, but it showed that he sacrificed everything for his fight. cant say he underachieved there. that was his defining moment in the series
