Default Trade for Thought: Colts and Jets

Colts Recieve
Darrell Revis
2012 First Round Pick

Jets Recieve
Peyton Manning

COLTS
The Colts have the #1 pick the 2012 and are expected to pick Andrew Luck at QB. He has great potential to be the QB of the future and give you a good career at the QB spot. On the other hand the Colts defense has been horrendos. They do this to get a young and most dominant Corner in the league in Revis, and a first rounder that they can use to add more defensive talent.

JETS
The Jets are a team that wants to win and want to win now. Mark Sanchez does not look like the guy to get it done. Only a select few QB's can step in and elevate a team to a whole nother level like Manning can. Manning still has a good 3 years left if he stays healthy.

All in all, the Colts do this to become younger and have great talent on both sides of the field for years to come, and the Jets do this to get a QB who could get them over the hump and into the superbowl.

*Im not sure if the trade works Salary cap wise but I wanted to see what football fans would think. A few of my friends are Colts fans and a few are Jet fans and i've got mixed responses from both sides. I'm niether a fan of the Colts or Jets so I dont really have any bias toward either side.

best defender in the NFL + a number pick for a 35 year old QB with a fcked up neck that might retire?

are you sure that's it?...you don't think the jets should throw in next year's number 1 as well?

Some kind of 3 way trade needs to happen. Trade Sanchez for some picks (maybe Seattle?) and include those picks in a package for Manning.

What kind of trade value does Sanchez have? 2nd or 3rd?

Seriously, that's an awful trade proposal. The Jets wouldn't trade Revis for Manning straight up, let alone throw in their 1st round pick.

There's not one player that is more important to their defense than Revis. Jets style of defense is predicated on the play of their corners. Jets lose Revis and they lose their whole defensive identity.

Yeah, Colts are going to try to help the Jets win a Super Bowl. Say thanks to Rex for talking shit against Indy for 2 years - when/if they send Peyton away they'll be the asking price and the price for the Jets.

lmao Colts rob the jets in that trade.. Giving up the best corner and a mid first round pick?

But I do think Manning if traded will go for a first round pick minimum. Too many teams need a QB and some are looking for a quick fix.

Exactly. Indy could probably offer Manning, Freeney, and a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Revis and the Jets would turn it down. That's how good Revis is and how valuable he is to their defense.

And I know this doesn't have anything to do with the trade, but Freeney is one of the few other players I would say means almost as much to his defense as Revis does to the Jets defense. The Colts defense, even all these years when it's sucked, was predicated on building leads with their potent offense, forcing teams to pass, allowing Freeney and Mathis to pin their ears back and wreak havoc by rushing the QB.

First of all the Colts have a 28 million dollar option for Peyton that they must decide in March. Pretty much either he stays with the Colts or gets released.

They'd turn it down because Manning health is a mystery, Freeney (healthy as well) in the 3-4 isnt a good look. You're giving up an impact performer for questionable players. If NYJ ran a 4-3 and Manning/Freeney were healthy? I'd pull the trigger without hesitation.
