[QUOTE]The Raptors signing of Landry Fields was another swing-and-a-miss by the previous regime. The Raptors are paying him $6.5 million this season and next, while the jack-of-all-trades player has fallen out of the rotation, with veteran Terrence Ross starting and just returned from injury John Salmons taking up the bench minutes.

He's had horrible luck with his elbow, nerve damage and the subsequent peripheral neuropathy that he has experienced. Now these wrist issues.. I can't foresee a long and prosperous career for this guy. He is an intelligent player with good basketball sense and awareness, which is basically how he got this far.. but it doesn't seem like his body will be able to tolerate a full season anymore with his bionic arms.

    Good luck Landry.

Never really saw you ; bear no ill will other than you were tied up to a bad contract chasing a bad Free Agent signing - Steve Nash. Said all the right things, seemed to hustle, seemed like a good corporate citizen.

    Landry more tradeable ?

His cap hit was averaged out if I recall at $7M though his deal is back end loaded. Now he is injured.

Next year he is an expriring contract with medical issues. Doesnt the cap rules allow and insurance and player exception ? Either way any teams at the cap or wanting to free up room in 2016 for their FA signing, other FA, etc would have to look at Landry as a great candidate as a rent a player.

    1) Expiring contract 2) Injury history and possible exemption.

He's nothing more than a sunk cost. Awful player that the Raptors will just have to wait out. It doesn't seem like expiring contracts are too valuable lately so don't bank on that.

The thing is he actually changed all the mechanics of his shot to be able to keep playing after the elbow issues started. He had the nerve surgery in his elbow and then his wrist.. and he can probably play through these issues but they made him basically ineffective.

You can only use the cap exemption clause in the CBA if the player is totally incapable of playing and must miss a certain amount of games to meet the criteria like Jay Williams.
