A S+T is another thing i've been preaching about for god knows how long.

edit: Sorry RT, but I thoroughly disagree that letting him walk wouldn't be a bad thing. I think that we'd have an easier time trading him for some solid players + draft picks than we would of picking up some big name guy from free agency.

Yeah.. but instead of trading him RT mentioned that Colangelo was talking about a sign and trade with Bosh anyways when his contract expires after next season. But should we even risk the fact that Bosh will follow through with it? Because if he gets a max contract offer elsewhere he could just sign it and walk for nothing. I'm personally not comfortable with that. I hope he just resigns or tells management straight up what he wants.

Agree totally, we can't even take a chance at losing another asset such as Chris for nothing. If he doesn't sign, you have little choice to deal him, or it could take years to recover from his outright loss. I personally hope he stays because in the NBA it's not allways money talks, there are some players that look for perfect situations also. Chris genuinely likes it here and i don't care how much cap space we have, it will be almost impossibe to attract an equal free agent talent, to even consider coming here to replace his loss.

It's not like Toronto is a bad place to play, either. Top 10 in attendance, world class city. Granted, some of those will sign elsewhere or with their own teams prior to the date (I'm sure Pierce is staying, for example). I'm not saying it's the ideal solution, but if he does walk, I'm just saying it's not going to be the end of the world.

2010 will be the biggest free agent bust in NBA history. Way too many teams have way too much money to spend on way to few free agents.

GM with lot's of money and not enough good free agents available equal paying way to much for the second tier, because they all have too much money.

I would stay out of the 2010 free agent market. If a move has to made regarding Bosh do it when nearing the 2009 trading deadline.

2010 will be the death nell to several teams.

I'm thinking that if Colangelo lands a big name ala Gordon (especially after his playoff performance so far) or Odom and we get a nice prospect in the draft, he may be able to convince Bosh to sign this summer. I still lean towards trading him if no decision is made this offseason, but hey if he walks for nothing we can pick up 3 solid players for like 6 mill each in one of the greatest FA classes in NBA history as has been mentioned earlier so I guess it can be worth rolling the dice and seeing what happens with Bosh, the new-and-improved Bargnani, a healthy Calderon and whoever BC brings in this offseason for at least next year before really considering busting out the TNT as I had been lobbying for earlier this year in the midst of this maddening season.

It looks like we're stuck with Jay though which has me bumbed.

My problem right now with BG is that I think his playoff performance is probably gonna raise his FA stock significantly. I'd still love to have him on this team, but i'm not sure of what it'd cost us now.

I think I worded that part of my post poorly ( I was writing it in my car while leeching some internet from a near by Starbucks... THAT'S dedication, folks.)

Don't get me wrong. I hardly think it's the best option. It's obviously the worst of all of them, but I don't think it would be as devastating to the team as if it were to happen any other year.

Why WOULDN'T Bosh follow through? A S&T guarantees Bosh an extra $30M in his pocket. If BC can find a location that Bosh find suitable, its a no brainer.

I've said it elsewhere, but I have no issue with Triano as the coach of this team next year. He has the players respect, and he didn't exactly have a ton to work with.
