Default Bobcats experiment with Hollins as starter

CHARLOTTE'S TRAINING CAMP IN WILMINGTON - N&O

I try not to link to Bonnell's articles...but this thought has been beating around for a few days now, and "radical" is about the best I can describe this idea.

Avoiding using Mek as the C even though our best game has historically been with Mek playing Center and Fabio playing the 4. Pushing for Hollins as a starter even though the talent on the floor HAS to go down.

Coach V is there every day, so IMO he should get major latitude until he mucks it up...but boy is this idea out there.

What do you guys think? If it works we're way farther than any of us thought.

I would totally get it if the coach was going for a bigger line-up, that's cool. But then I read stuff like this:

Quote:
The coaches' message: Understand you're a runner, not a banger, so learn to avoid unnecessary collisions.

If Collins is going to avoid collisions (read: not going to play defense) why have him on the court in the first place? The only reason he might play is because he is taller and a bigger body than Herrmann, but the coach is telling him to avoid contact?

He's telling him to avoid contact because 1) he's too stupid to understand the difference between a bump and a clothesline, 2) he has great defenders all around him and 3) Vincent just wants some extra rebounding in there.

I was throwing around the idea of Hollins starting even last year when he clearly wasnt ready, thats how bad I despised Brezec. I think the first 15 or so games Hollins might struggle a little bit, but I love the idea of him starting, and gives us perhaps the most athletic starting 5 in the league.

He may be trying to give Hollins a boost of confidence by giving him a taste of the starting lineup hoping he'll work to prove his spot.... I highly doubt he starts more than 5-10 games (and that's a high prediction) all season. I think we start with a Felton/JRich/Wallace/Herrmann/Okafor lineup.

Whether we are playoff team or not we are a fantasy monster making machine. And in one league I have JRich/Wallace/Herrmann
