I didn't watch the video but it sounds like we got some redskins chewin on sour grapes! Sorry fellas, ya can't win em all. But if it makes em feel any better I did lose about $300 last time I hit the blackjack table

Is that why there were pyramids ( math / architects) , calenders , astronomy ,etc..in Pre Columbian Americas?

Much of the Pre Columbian knowledge was systematically destroyed by Europeans.

Yes, but I don't think those were generally done as trades or professions, altho I could be mistaken. Obviously people did develop them with time. You don't spend 24 hours a day in battle.

The ultimate and most celebrated ideal in most tribes was to grow into a warrior who conquered other tribes tho. There's no question about that.

If he had nothing to do with North America why do we still celebrate Columbus day in the United States ?

The White people of North America are ' ignorant' I assume by celebrating Columbus Day.
The problem is that the "history" they teach in public schools is highly politicized. From all sides of the political landscape.

We don't have people who are objective deciding what will be taught in public schools. We have people with agendas sculpting narratives with the intention of it resulting in students that share their political viewpoints.

How many were scientists / Astronomers in Europe as a percentage in 1492? Not many.

What percentage in in modern America are Astronomers/ Scientists, etc.....? Not generally done.

The ultimate ideal among most Americans is a house with a garage ,picket fence, watching sporting events / reality TV , the latest electronics ( Black Friday deals ) ,etc...... There's no question about that.

What's your point besides trying to dismiss Meso American society?

Native Americans don't control North American school curriculum. Whites in America do.

Maybe the poster who called Native Americans 'ignorant' should call those who control curriculum ' ignorant'.

Although Columbus did reach the Americas..........

Were you affected by Columbus? Were those Native Americans on the screen affected by Columbus? The answer is no on all accounts. It's history. Part of American History and World History whether we choose to accept it or not. Since none of us were affected by Columbus, then this is a non-issue.

Someone, someway, somehow was going to land on this continent sooner or later. Get over it. In fact, none of us would be typing on these machines if it weren't for exploration and conquer. Ya'll act like the man is still landing on your beaches and telling you about this magnificent guy called Jesus Christ.

Lol. Lawyers and scientists were just an example of the professions many people in european society aspired to. And army general was also one of them, sure. But In meso american culture the ultimate ambition and really the only one was to be a warrior. It was the greatest sense of pride possible.

The behavior these modern Native Americans criticize Colombus for is the EXACT behavior Indians all glorified among themselves in that period.

Thats my point. Theyre trying to imply that Colombus was unethical in contraposition to the natives and their morals. When in fact its just tribalism (no pun intended) and sour grapes that their peoples got throttled by colombus' peoples.

Why can't you answer my damn question?

If Native Americans are 'ignorant' for being dismissive of Columbus ,then what what does it say about the Whites in North America who decided to have a National day to celebrate Columbus?

What does that say about the knucklehead Whites who get bent out of shape about someone daring to question why we celebrate this man?

Societies do come into contact with one another & they can share technologies, medicine,science,etc......without enslaving , committing genocide or systematically destroying another's like Europeans did in the Americas( and fairly like many other tyrannical societies).

If Columbus never set foot in North America why is there aa National holiday in his honor in North America?

why do North Americans( Whites specifically) get bent out of shape when Columbus or the day celebrating him is called into question?

Your opinion is already made on Columbus so to debate Columbus with you is futile. Columbus never set foot in North America and never killed a Native American. That's a fact. For some Native Americans to make these assertions 500 years later just shows how ignorant that population continues to be.

He said the whites were ignorant. You obviously read it wrong and thought it said the natives were ignorant, thus all your arguments since misreading that are backwards.

It's really simple, actually. 500 years from now, people are going to look back and make judgments on us depending on the circumstances that surround them at the time, which is unfair. I'm sure we'll all look like assholes too.

But to sit in front of a camera and rail on someone or a way of life from so long ago is just dumb.
