The Nets announced late Sunday night that they have waived Stromile Swift. Dealing with injuries early in the season and then his mother’s illness and subsequent death, Swift played just six games this season and hadn’t seen action since December 10. His contract was set to expire at the end of the season. Before Sunday’s game, Lawrence Frank indicated that Swift was close to being back on the active roster.
Mark Bartelstein, agent for combo guard Luther Head, says the Nets are among “about a dozen” teams who’ve called about his client. “Kiki (Vandeweghe) just left a message,” Bartelstein said Sunday. Hours later, the Nets cleared a roster spot by waiving Stromile Swift. Head had been waived by the Rockets Saturday, permitting him to play in the post-season. The 6′3″ 26-year-old has an 8.8 ppg career average.
i wish we could of kept swift and his athletic play, he just needed time, he helps our team more than maurice ager, maurice just bombs threes when he plays trying to score but he still stinks, get rid of ager swift is good, he was one of my favorite players, i wish him luck and hope he has a great future ahead
Re: Breaking News- Nets waive stromile swift, now after luther head!
i must confess that i don't understand sticking by him and investing a roster spot in him the whole time he was dealing with his mother's illness only to release him now.
i mean, obviously he's being released now so he has a chance to catch on with a playoff contender, but if i was him i would have wanted to stay in a system i knew and with a group of guys who had stuck by me.
OTOH, with dooling ailing i would welcome another veteran guard to help spell carter and harris.
