Two levels with teams only being able to play those in their level means that the US will be the only ones on level one without being able to play anyone.

Personally i wished they played the tournament during the nba season so no nba players could play and get hurt because i coudl give two ****s about usa basketball. Plumlee was on the team because coach K either wants to **** him or thinks he's his long lost son. That's USA basketball. Who cares...cancel the tourney forever!

The TV ratings without NBA players will be laughable. The NBA doesn't need FIBA.

USA took their Gamma squad over to Spain and sonned EVERYONE, FIBA basketball is dead until the young Canadian players get into their mid to late twenties.

Europe had its day, it was fun, Argentina was nice for a minute with Manu's generation, but IT'S OVER, all the corrupt ass backwards Euro-federations (FIBA, FIFA, IOC etc) are dinosaurs and they will soon become extinct, nobody wants the Olympics, soon no one will want FIBA, the Wolrd Cup will always be popular, but FIFA will be changed top to bottom because of Qatar.

The days of stuffy European pedophiles dictating the terms of world sport is coming to an end.

    Double this.

Fiba without NBA players will be a joke. Can you imagine France without Parker, Batum, Diaw etc..? Can you imagine Spain without the Gasols, Calderon, Rubio others I forgot etc? And on and on.

Fiba will be a shell of a tournament without the NBA. It will be like the days before the Dream Team when everyone knew that the best basketball wasn't being played in those Fiba tourneys, but in the States.

This could be the death knell of Fiba, and just the excuse of certain owners like Cuban to urge the rest of the NBA to pull out entirely, IF THESE REPORTS FROM EL THE POSTER ARE TRUE.

    That's a big if though.

In several straight tournaments Team USA and America has the lowest ratings of the games. So none of this is even remotely true at all. That's why FIBA could not give one flying **** about any of that bull shit.

The ratings are so damn low...no one is watching any of the games. And no income from USA is coming AT ALL. It has been that way for several tournaments now.

No one gives a damn about it in USA and no one else wants to watch USA versus Finland or New Zealand or whatever. If you think otherwise, you are beyond delusional, and are actually psychotic.

Team USA is actually one of the LOWEST viewed teams of the entire international basketball. No one in USA even bothers to watch the games and none of the rest of the world wants to watch it because it is boring and predictable.

FIBA said they generated something like $250,000 in TV revenue in the last tournament. Compared to tens of millions of dollars each from numerous European countries. So no, nothing you say is even remotely true.

In fact, it would actually GENERATE money for FIBA if USA was out of the tournaments, because as it is now, FIBA has enormous expenses catering to Team USA's every whim for them to compete, and those expenses run into the many millions in costs, compared to the very meager revenues they generate.

Get your head of your arrogant, ignorant, egotistical ass.

FIBA has made wholesale changes here to these tournaments now, in order to make it EASIER for USA to qualify, and for the NBA players to play LESS games as well. If they don't agree to this, then they are completely full of it.

And FIBA absolutely does NOT need NBA players or Team USA at all to generate the revenues. No one gives a damn about NBA players outside of the USA. They care about the name written across the jersey and the country being represented - IDIOT.

It is unbelievable how stupid you are. If you think Argentina is not going to care because Manu could not play, or whatever........unbelievable how nuts you are.

And about the Gasols and Rubio....they are NOT even Spanish in the first place you moron. Just shows how ignorant you are.

    Current system of competition

No visibility of national teams in their home countries.

National team competitions in selected host countries taking place ONLY in the summer.

No easy-to-follow qualification system throughout the 5 continental zones.

No lead-up (“Road to”) to the flagship national team competitions - large gaps without games.

Unlike other team sports, currently no official regular home games for all national teams.

Future participation of the best players to national team flagship tournaments questionable.

No development potential for most of the National Federations - as the same countries play and win the major competitions.

Too much “wear and tear” for the international players competing every summer at the end of the club season.

Economic viability of the current system at risk in a changing environment as other sports are improving their position.

    New system of competition

    Benefits

Improved basketball exposure: More than 140 countries playing – 1,250 regular and meaningful games.

New interest for basketball: Regular official national team games in front of their home fans.

Player-friendly system with one free summer: Maximises the chance of having international stars in the flagship FIBA tournaments.

Opportunity for new countries and players to emerge through regular official games.

All-year regular visibility of the national team, not only in summer time – creating synergies with club competitions.

Improved structure of lead-up to flagship national team tournaments: Clear “Road to” the main FIBA competitions.

Enhanced potential for commercial and media partners to be associated with the national teams and the main FIBA competitions.

Development of National Federations, giving them own assets, new tools and more resources.

Increased media exposure and promotion for national team basketball – generating benefits across all FIBA Zones.
