I am sure most of them have incentives in their contracts for it too...they do want that label...for sure
CJ and AP are "probowl RBs"...the only thing higher would be "HOF RBs"
even though it is a popularity contest, it is still more or less a way of being called "elite"...
The label "All-Pro" comes with more weight. They want to be named to it, sure. But the majority of them sit the game out after they get the nod. They still have the pro bowl selection on their resume even if they don't play.
All 3 QB's on the AFC last year were alternates, 1 for Manning who was in the SB and 2 because of "injury."
Look at how many damn alternates were in it last year. It's a joke. 11 guys missed it because they were in the Super Bowl, there's 37 total alternates. Some of the alternates don't really count...for example they had an alternate for DeSean Jackson as a "punt returner" because he couldn't be in it for 2 positions, but a lot of them are real. Who wants to watch the AFC's "best of the best"...Schaub, Young, and Garrard. We had KERRY FREAKING COLLINS in the pro bowl the year before because Rivers sat out that one too.
