Your information is outdated. Blake's been a very respectable defender since late last season. Maybe not "good" or "great" defensively but above average which is a huge step up from "nearly nonexistent". BTW for the people saying Griffin can't guard Howard go download Magic vs Clippers from last year in Feb when Chauncey tore his Achilles. Griffin guarded Howard 1 on 1 for entire OT period and shut his ass down, stopping Howard on 5 straight tries.
There are a lot of myths surrounding Blake Griffin that's for sure. Howard couldn't even back Griffin down.... so the idea that Griffin is much weaker or something doesn't fly either
Clippersfan86 youre starting to show your team bias now brotha. Griffin showed no signs of technique or growth last season. There was a complete lack thereof. Hes a terrible defender.
Kendrick Perkins of all people said the biggest improvement he noticed in Blake was his defense last year. Multiple articles quoting scouts and GM's said the same. Blake went from terrible defender to "okay" defender last year, especially late season and on. His defense looks to have taken another step forward. All of the Clippers best defensive lineups were with Griffin on the court BTW, not Evans or Kmart.
This isn't all of the good ones... just enough to be surprised that you don't remember any. Besides Griffin's defensive progress has been man defense and defensive IQ. Not sure he will ever be a shotblocker. Malone wasn't either and became a well above average man defender and that's all I expect of Blake. I agree though Dwight is far more likely to contest Griffin than the other way around.
