Fan reaction to Oklahoma City team logo

Now that it's official, and you've seen the team logo (front page of insidehoops, or see their official site here), what do you think of it?

Look at it for a little while and digest it, before reacting.

No offense to WNBA teams, but that is exactly what the logo and name remind me of.

Did somebody forget to tell Clay Bennet that theres a team in the NBA that uses lightning bolts in their logo and use basically the same color scheme that he picked?

for a second i thought i was reading from a political convention speech there is so much BS spewing from Bennett.

“We think the logo is classic in its style,” said team chairman Clay Bennett. “We think it's powerful in its design. We think it evokes energy. We think the word Thunder is displayed with simplicity and dignity. And the colors represent much about Oklahoma.

“Our primary color blue is the color of our state flag. This is very much an Oklahoma organization. The sunset is red and orange. Not too red. Not too orange. And the beautiful sun is reflected by yellow.”

“We just felt it connected,” Bennett said. “We liked the name. We felt it reflected the identity we hope to establish for the team. And thought the word connected to Oklahoma in an effective way, a word of power and strength and clarity. It was a favorite early on. Thunder was the leader for a long time.”

“We are thrilled with the creative design,” Bennett said. “It's an exhilarating day. We're very proud. We hope the fans are proud. And we hope to make them proud.”

“We are honored and humbled that Thunder joins the NBA family,” Bennett said. “We will do all we can to live up to the privilege and responsibility. The season is upon us. Great days lie ahead. Congratulations all. And go Thunder.”

So he somehow thinks this is a creative design that looks powerful.... The worst name from the list was the favorite the whole time so Bennett himself must have come up with it. Who is he congratulating anyway? His lawyers that helped him steal a team?

that logo reminds me of the bobcats logo...

seems like this franchise is gonna be all about business

While the Bobcat logo is far from the best, at least the Bobcat logo has a bobcat in it. OKC's logo looks like a painters pallet w/ two pencil brushes on it. maybe they let middle school students design this. It is minor league.
